5 Point Flowers

Hi everyone!

Usually on Tuesday evenings, I am just about becoming desperate to paint my nails. On the weekends, I work, and on Mondays and Tuesdays as well. Not really a problem.. I could still technically have my nails painted.. Except that I am working in the dish pit. So. My nails AND hands are pretty gross. Even though I do my best to try and not let that happen. (I wear gloves with my eczema cream and cuticle cream while reading before bed.. Then I take them off and lather up in lotion.. Still doesn't always work!)

So, like I said earlier, come Tuesday evening, I am chomping at the bit to do my nails!

Last night was no exception.

I perused through my inspiration folder and found something that was perfect because I wanted to play with new toys!!

I got the idea from NailArtIdeas on youtube. She has some great ideas. Check them out!

The colours used are all OPI: Alpine Snow, Lucky Lucky Lavender & Sapphire In The Snow.

Now, this would be the part where I talk about one of my good friends, Bobby Pin, but, not today. No. He has been replaced.

On Monday morning, just before I left for my shift.. A package was waiting for me. From Born Pretty. YAY! There are some really awesome goodies that were just waiting for me in that package. I am extremely excited about all of them, but particularly these bad boys!

Now. I have never used a dotting tool before.. So, I selected a larger dot (pink tool in the middle) and used that for my thumb and index finger.. and I do believe my pinky.. Then I realized that there are different sized dots for a reason! I used the smaller dot for the rest of my nails.

I am actually really glad I received these. I have hummed and hawed over purchasing dotting tools for a very long time. I am now disappointed that I never did buy them, but happy because something else has brought me joy in this nail polish world. Right on!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday. I will hopefully be back before the week is done with another video tutorial (I have it all drawn out! wee!) and maybe a look with some other goodies. Take care til then!

Dotting Tools were sent to me by Born Pretty - check out the website for some really great nail art goodies!

  • KarenD - I can never just slap on some safe matte polish, I have to go all out. I think my savior in it all is Seche Vite! And thank you (:
  • shortwidenails - I didn't even get to bowl. It was 5 pin. I loathe 5 pin bowling! Basically, it was a waste of my time going :( Oh well! I think that design might be my favourite. Although I want to get the plate with the cheetah print.. Might make doing cheetah print easier and make me love it more on my nails! Ugh, I know. Maybe next year? Haha! I didn't, but I would like to wear one someday! Although I am not sure if I will go with a real hollowed out melon or a fake (;

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
