Even More Goodies (Pic Heavy)

I thought receiving a package yesterday was rad.. But two days in a row!? YAY! Day brighteners to the max!!

I will just get right in to the photos because this post will be full of them..

I had to snap a quick photo of the opened box before I opened any of the boxes within.. Why? Because Kris used coloured tissue paper and I'm a sucker for coloured tissue paper! (I know.. I'm weird!)

In this photo we have Spa Gel Toe Separators and a CH-924 foot pumice.. I am actually quite enthralled with the idea of using the toe separators.. I have never used them before and it seems like fun!!

The Seche Secrets of the French Manicure set. Doesn't it looks awesome!? The kit includes: Seche Clear (base coat), Seche Porcelain ("A luxe nail lacquer designed to make your nail tips white while enhancing the natural nail color"), Seche Rose ("A luxe nail lacquer used to enhance the natural pigment of the nail bed") and of course, my favourite, Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.  Also - doesn't Seche Porcelain sound amazing? I might actually have to give myself a French Manicure to test this bad boy out!!

In this photo we have (from l to r): Kleancolor in Brown, BYS in Yellow Sunshine, Jordana in Mellow Yellow, Quirius in Chocolate Moose, Mattese N.Y.C in Neon Lightening Blue and Finger Paints in Leonardo Da Vin-Pink. I have to say that I LOVE yellow polish!! So excited about the two in this photo.. BUT! I have to say that two polish names make me want to use them more so than anything else. Can you guess the two?

This photos contains (from l to r): Street Wear by Revlon polishes in Psychedelic and FX flash, CoverGirl Crackle Lacquer Blue, CG polishes in For Audrey, Avalanche and Evening Seduction. The Street Wear bad boys look like a lot of fun!! And Crackle polish?! Be still my heart!! I remember having a Crackle polish in grade 7.. I had to do some chores around the house so my mom would buy it for me (this was before my major babysitting gigs started..) and I thought I was the coolest kid alive! So great!! OH! And Evening Seduction (last polish) is actually a really deep and beautiful looking purple.. Not black (:

In this photo we have: CG polishes in Spontaneous, Masai Red and Liquid Leather, Ulta polishes in Sun-Sational, Chic Peek and Celebutante. I am actually pretty excited to have some Ulta polishes in my collection.. And another yellow! Such a great colour..

This gem of a photo includes: Diamond Cosmetics polishes in: Amethyst & Diamonds, Blue Diamonds and Serendipity, Bobbie in Black Shadow, Ulta Professional in Banana Rum in the Sun and Wet n Wild in Jade. There isn't a polish in this photo that I am not excited to try.. I am kind of in love with all of them..

These bad boys are Adoree polishes.. I am pumped about these! They are: Seaport Blue, Autumn Cover, Glamour Pink and Salmon Stream. When I was nabbing these gems out of the box, I grabbed Salmon Stream and said 'weird.. this polish reminds me of salmon...' check the label and chuckled. I don't even know why it does remind me of salmon as I am not a fan.. But I get good vibes off of their marketing teams!!

This photo includes: CG polishes in Re-Fresh Mint and White Out, OPI in OPI & Apple Pie, CoverGirl Nailslicks in Khaki, L.A Colors in White and Avon in Golden Wine. I am pretty sure there was a hallelujah choir singing when I pulled Re-Fresh Mint out of the box.. I had wanted the polish so bad, yet when I would go to Chatters, it was ALWAYS out and I would forget to add it to my TD orders.. So happy! And Golden Wine looks UH-MAY-ZING! Reddish gold (not copper though!) with golden sparkles? Yay!

Here we have Seche Natural (Matte Finish) and Seche Restore. I am excited to have another Seche Restore.. When I bought my first bottle of Seche Vite, Restore was beside it.. And I was like 'meh, I don't need that stuff!'.. About mid-way through my bottle of Seche Vite, it seemed to be overly thick and it finally clicked that restore is important. Plus it has helped with other polishes. LOVE it. Also, we have some Andrea Eye Q's makeup remover pads.. These pads say they are good for contact wearers, which seems excellent to me as I have decided that I should actually wear my lenses more!!

Now some false lashes by Ardell. They are Fairies Black, Fun and Shimmer.. I am actually really excited to try out false eyelashes.. The one makeup product I cannot live without is mascara as I think my eyelashes are most important to me (yet mine are nothing special.. they are not overly thick or long, etc) so having something else to help out their appearance is fine by me! There is also the eyelash adhesive by DUO.

Phew! Did you all survive? I am still glancing over at all the polish and going 'ok, you, you and you.. we're going to do this design.. ooohhh wait.. you!' - this could be dangerous!

Again, I want to thank everyone over at Polish or Perish for an amazing giveaway.. I still cannot believe my name was drawn and I get to be the happy kid with all these goodies. Um, nobody pinch me, I'm having a good dream!!

Oh, and one more photo just for fun.. My stellar nail injury!
Last night, after returning from my brother's hockey game, my hands were numb, so I was actually able to get that last bit of polish off (with remover.. and it didn't even sting!) I decided to clip the nail down to a nub.. You know when you're injured and you're trying to prevent any pain to the injured area yet every time you do anything you end up hitting/bumping your injured area? Yeah. That was happening, but my nail would get caught and it would send a shooting pain down my finger. Since clipping it I have had no problems.

Ok, enough already huh.. Have a terrific Tuesday.. I am off to come up with some designs!! If anyone wants to see swatching, let me know.. As I will swatch of all of you lovelies - or anything you want to know - comment and I will get back to you, I promise!!

  • Smita - Haha! You should definitely get it!! You know, I kept reading about people saying their plates were scratched up and I was like 'mine aren't!' - I was glancing through them last night and to my dismay, some of them are!! I will have to either get a plastic scraper or just use an old card - I don't want these to get ruined!!
  • ThRiSzHa - Thankies! I cannot wait to see what I will do either.. I think I need to master my konading skills first!!
  • asdf - Excellent idea - I have it written down. Expect it soon!! And thank you for the idea (:

More Goodies

This ties in to my Contest Winner post..

I like waking up to a package with my name on it.. It always make the day seem so much better.. Then you get to the innards and it is much better than you could have hoped for!!

Super exciting!! I cannot wait to test them out.. In order, the plates are: m74, m75, m76, m77, m78, m79, m80, m81 and s10. I have to say the little bunny on s10 is making my heart happy and break all at the same time!

Now, question.. Which should I test out first? Colour combos.. Let me know what you would like to see and I will happily oblige!

**Image plate photos are from www.konadusa.com**

  • ThRiSzHa - Thank you, I thought it was pretty great myself! It looks ten times worse (to me) right now.. Maybe I'll snap another photo for my next post.. And agreed, there will be no polish on that nail for a LONG time!!
  • Amber - Yeah, I must admit it sort of seems like a surreal injury to me.. Yet every time I look at what is causing me pain, I can see it - so it did really happen!! Yay! I hope you have fun with it - although water marbling can be pretty amazing as well.. I should try that out again (only have done it once!!)

Diagonal Zebra Mix

Hello everyone (:

I bring to you another look that I saw on WAH Nails. I really liked this particular look because it is simple, yet it grabs attention as if it were a more complicated design.

I have had a bunch of people grab my hands in the past few days (I have been wearing this for 6 days now).. I find friends and/or mother/daughter combos are the best.. They grab my hands and then hold them in the air to get others to come and look. Embarrassing, yet it is nice to get acknowledgment for the work you've done. Onwards to the photos..

I used OPI No Room For The Blues, OPI Dim Sum Plum & CG Liquid Leather for this.. I started out by painting on the blue.. I didn't let it dry fully because I thought there would be this rad mixed purple-y line once I added the purple, but it didn't happen.. oh well!! Then, using my nail art brush from that yellow, I painted on the zebra-esque lines. Super easy and super fun!

Ok, now, a few entries back, I think I said something about waiting for a nail break so I could clip off these talons (seriously, a friend called them talons the other day.. I think they are starting to scare people!)..

Earlier today I had an.. incident occur. Not an accident, because I think this damage was done with intent. You all are familiar with Bennie the degu by now.. Well.. He loves sunflower seeds.. And everyone in the house feeds him his 'treat' because the LARGE bag is by his cage.. Anyways.. This past week I cut him off from the seeds because he gained a noticeable amount of weight and I do not want my pal to get diabetes (degus are prone to it..) Now.. We were playing earlier this afternoon, and sometimes he nips at my nails, usually no big deal..

THIS TIME though he bit the nail on my little finger.. still kept playing.. Then I was heading upstairs and thought 'my finger really hurts!' and glanced at my nail.. then thought 'gee, I hope this blood doesn't get on the carpet', go up a few more stairs.. 'BLOOD?!'

Now.. I snapped a few photos to share.. I think the camera is being generous.. It doesn't look so bad on here..

The way I have been explaining it to my family is that my nail has a trap door.. It is a flap of the nail.. My mom suggests I super glue it.. I am terrified of doing that.. Yet I was excited to make my nail talk.. I am keeping it bandaged and trying to avoid everything!! Any little touch stings. And it is actually bruising now. Blergh!

Oh, and, in case anyone else was wondering.. Bennie did shed his pounds that he put on, but my pal is not getting any seeds from my hands anytime soon. Although I did give him a massage, except he twists his head more and smiles like a rat!!

**EDIT** I just read ThRiSzHa's comment and wanted to say that.. Although I do plan on continuing to do my nails despite this horrendous accident, I do not plan to polish that nail at all! It will probably remain bandaged a lot as it looks disgusting right now. I am going to wait for that part to grow out and then just snip the nail. Should be a fun waiting process aka not! **/EDIT**

Alright, well, that is all. I guess I will go baby my wound some more.. And glare at Bennie! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Suede Flowers

Just a quick post as I have to run out with the bro (Happy Birthday!!!) and exchange his new jeans.. AGAIN! I thought birthday gifts were supposed to be easy..

The other night I took to my twitter to ask for an idea on how to polish up thee old nails. Gingerkittyd said I should konad with matte polish over glossy polish.. Sounded amazing! But sadly a combination of things kept this look from happening. 1. My stamping skillz are not up to par 2. I just couldn't get anything to go well. Once I did have all my nails stamped, I hated it!! Not the idea, I just thought it looked sloppy (it was all my fault though!!)

So. Removed everything and started again. I didn't know what to do and I was too lazy to go grab a brush, so I used a pencil with my suede polish and made these flowery.. things?

I apologize for the chips. We went to my friends cabin for the weekend.. Of course I forgot to take the picture beforehand. Still, without a top coat, this actually held out fairly well.

My favourite part is that when we were driving home on Sunday, we decided to stop for a sit-down-meal at Boston Pizza before finishing our trip. Just before we left, I ran to use the washroom and this little girl was outside the door.. I went to push the door open and she said 'your nails are beautiful'... I was elated! I said 'thank you so much sweetie' and went on my way. That comment made me feel better for the rest of the trip home. (Right now road trips take a ton of energy away from me.. It makes me sad!) So at least I was happy when I fell asleep for a bit.. Hah!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a great week! Gotta run!!

Contest Winner

The lovely ladies over at Polish or Perish were holding an anniversary giveaway a couple of weeks ago.. I decided to add my name into the mix.. At the time there were 600+ entries.. Draw date comes and out of 873 names, mine was chosen.

I FREAKED OUT! I might have even fist pumped..

Anyways.. Last Friday (the 13th.. ooo!) a package showed up for moi.. And I'd like to share the contents with all of you..

Earlier today I posted a swatch photo using these beauties.. Minus the GREY polish of course. The brand is called 'Brucci' and I have never heard of them, but I love them. They apply nicely and are perfect with two coats! From L to R: Emmi & Olli Go Bananas, Sheri's Pistachio Creme, No Label, Gianna's "Rockin" Blue, Roberta's Green Garden and Alexandra's "Hot" Gray (it kills me to write grey with an a).

I loooove Sheri's Pistachio Creme polish. It makes me want to make pistachio cake.. Maybe I will surprise the family with that sometime this week!!

Here we have Denim Creme and Funky Frost

These bad boys are: Steel Creme, Concrete Creme, Marble Creme and Mosaic Creme

These are: Khaki Frost, Purple Rage and Blackened Teal. I am actually really excited to try out all three of these. So is my mom. Sigh.

These guys are all mattes.. They are: Matte Galaxy, Matte Blue, Matte Olive, Matte Plum and Matte Grape.

And now some solid randoms: Barielle Ultra Speed Top Coat, Essie Wicked, Essie Matte About You, Essie Show Me The Ring, OPI Thoroughly Modern Millie, OPI Mini? and Seche Vite Top Coat.

I usually do not put my name is for giveaways (or too many..) but I had to for this one. I really wanted Essie Wicked and Matte About You. The fact that I won is still surreal to me!!

Thank you x a million to the lovelies at Polish or Perish - you are all amazing!!

  • shortnails - That would be amazing if they did have them!! I don't have one here (sadface!) and thank you.. Everyday is just another step in the right direction.. Or some other philosophical saying!!

Pink and Pink

Just a somewhat quickie post.

I am starting to make myself get up at better times (I can go to bed before midnight and not wake up til 2:30pm the next day.. And that is giving you the earliest time I could wake up at). I am starting to actually be more beneficial to my body after surgery. Finally I am starting to get through my head all the changes that have already happened and will happen. Craziness. I am starting to snap out of my funk! Woo! Plus it has just been over a month now.. Time flies when you're not having fun as well!!

Side note.. The other night, my bro had some of his pals over.. They were drinking and wanted to snap some photos of, well, anyways.. They borrowed my camera. Now, my camera isn't high quality, but I didn't want to get a new camera til around Christmas time as that would be my gift to myself.. I may have to invest earlier than I thought. It doesn't focus like it used to.. You have to take the photo and cross your fingers that it isn't too blurry. Plus it makes weird noises when you try to get it to focus. My brother says I am just trying to blame that on him.. But he does have a history of wrecking cameras.. Who knows what happened.. I just know that ever since he 'borrowed' it, it hasn't been the same. Prepare for sucky photos!!

Ok, so, what you're looking at is CC Warhol with Island Girl Hawaii: Pink sponged on top. Actually, Warhol reminds me of the Claire's mood polish I have.. I might have to do a comparison between the two. The two pinks don't look very different in either photo, but the top one is supposed to sort of show how they differ. IRL you can tell, honest!

And now to toss in a photo of Bennie because.. I went to check on him the other day.. And he had wrapped himself in his blanket.. Plus he is smiling.. Makes me chuckle!

Comic Talk

Hello everyone - looooong time no post. For that I do sincerely apologize! I have been doing so well after surgery that I figured that feeling of 'wellness' would just continue.

Wrong.

I hit a WALL this past.. Well, 10ish days. It has not been fun. All this amazing colour that I had (seriously, my eyes and cheeks and skin were all AMAZING looking, even without makeup) now I sort of look like a walking corpse. I would say zombie, but zombie are rad and I am not lately. I actually scared myself the other evening. I was washing my face and I swear my eyes were colourless and lifeless. I could go on and on about how terrible I have been feeling AND looking, but I'm here to discuss that.

A few posts back, Li Lian mentioned the website http://wah-nails.com/, so of course I had to check it out. They do some really fun nail art.. Most of which I find somewhat simple to replicate. I of course had to test out at least one of their designs asap.

Sorry the photo suuuucks! I really didn't want to stand around a whole bunch to try to get a decent shot. I think this particular design is a lot of fun. My sister did see some of the other photos from that site that I saved in my inspiration folder - she wants to test them out as well!! Oh, duh, the colours used are (from thumb to pinkie): OPI A Grape Fit, Essie Mint Candy Apple, CG Heli-Yum, CG Lemon Fizz & Orly BLANK because I cannot remember..

I keep meaning to post on here because I really do miss it AND all of you.. Just. So. Tired!

Anyways, just a quick update from moi! I hope everyone has had a good start to August and that it continues. I will try to post up again asap!

  • shortnails - Awe, thankies for checking up on me! I really do appreciate it! Like I said at the beginning of this post.. I felt pretty amazing for the first little bit, since then I have basically fallen apart. I am starting to monitor myself more.. Just so I won't have to slip into this 'funk' again!! Now I am off to catch up on your blog (:
