Guest Nails Vol. 1

Hey everyone!

I feel like I haven't posted in FOREVER! For that, I do apologize. Work has been kicking my ace lately.. And now that I have a few days off, I am totally slacking. Ugh.

Yesterday, my friend (and awesome co-worker) Amy stopped by. She had asked if I could do her nails for Halloween. I was pretty excited to be asked because I have only done one other persons nails.. aka my mom. Ok, and I have helped my sister.. Once.

ANYWAYS! I do believe her and some of her friends are dressing up as The Pussycat Dolls (awesome) and she wanted her nails to match this smokin' cheetah print bra she has.

The nails photographed a bit brighter than they really are! And I left her a bit of a mess due to the sponging! We started off with OPI Dim Sum Plum, then we sponged some combo of Quirius Purple Passion, CC Warhol, Island Girl Hawaii Purple and CC Mrs. Robinson and this is what the outcome was.

She said she likes them and I do as well! It was fun to do someone elses' nails for once - plus, it doesn't hurt that she has GORGEOUS nails to begin with (:

I will probably back later with my final Halloween nail post.. Unless someone goes wrong tomorrow and they chip horribly.. And I will have to do ANOTHER Halloween themed mani.. Not that I would complain!

I will also answer past comments on the next entry - Take care til then!!

Fail Nails

Good day everyone! Today I am bringing you a couple of fail nails. I decided to post these up regardless of how terrible they are.. Just to be honest and show that not everything I attempt works out.

Here is the first set. Ugh. I think the moons are what I hate the most. These just didn't work.

These I actually liked.. Except for the fact that my middle finger chipped after 1 day!! That NEVER happens to me anymore. Sure, I was at work.. But still, usually does not happen after a single day. And I actually should have reversed Ick-A-Bod-Y and Breakin', but oh well!!

I really shouldn't even bother painting my nails today as I have a bunch of work in the next week.. But oh well! I probably will anyways. I really want to try that infected stitches look that Dollface posted up the other day!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I am going to be enjoying some delicious Thanksgiving supper this evening.. We pushed it back a week to enjoy with the uncle that is visiting.. Turns out that he had to go home early for work, so now one of my friends is going to take his place.

OH! And a photo to save this post from being all about fails..

Mr. Bennie and Fonze. Fonze (the rabbit), just hops into Bennie's cage. They are pretty adorable together. And despite Bennie's rat-like appearance, he is actually closely linked to rabbits. I think Fonze helps to fill the void of Jet being gone.

Have a super day all!!

  • Lily Nail - Thankies!!
  • shortwidenails - I also love Halloween nails - cute ones just add in a fun little mix! OMG! I actually kind of agree with finding the cat (Zachary Binks or Binx?) hot.. It does have a lot to do with the accent! I will definitely post up pumpkin pics. They are usually my pride and joy of Halloween! I just hope I can figure out what I want to carve soon, it is making me nervous!! I am the official candy hander-outter. Plus, I like when I get to hear all the compliments about my pumpkins and decorations. AND hear the mini shrieks when the welcome mat screams at people (: Halloween nails are all I will be posting for the month, so yes, more to come!!
  • ch3rryco1a - Glad you found your way back (: you really should! I would love to see 'em!

Turn That Frankenstein...

...Into A Frankenfine.. I'm sorry. I'm slightly sleep deprived and have random quotes swimming in my mind. I am pretty sure that is from Dodgeball..

I just got back from my travels to my 3 month post-op appointment (I have to travel to another city (Regina), which is about 2.5 hours away..) - AND - All appears to be going quite well for me.

On the way home, the father and I made detours and I got four massive pumpkins! 2 for moi and 2 for the sister. 4 pumpkins weighing in at a grand total of 108 lbs! Insanity! Now I have to figure out what I want to carve.. Or possibly make stencils (my genius favourite friend explained pumpkin stencil making to me the other day.. I would have never guessed!)

Anyways! Enough about my day.. Well, the beginning of my day. I am going to show you all what I am currently sporting. The video tutorial (not by me!) can be found HERE.

I have been getting compliments by everyone. And, they are super easy to do! And.. well, they are quite cute! My sister and I were actually watching 'Hocus Pocus' the other night (when I painted these bad boys) and they actually remind me of Billy from the movie. Moving on..

For this I used: Seche Clear Base Coat, OPI Who The Shrek Are You, CG Liquid Leather, SH Salon All The White Stuff and, of course, Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

THEN! When I arrived home, I was getting ready to race to my computer and formulate a letter to TD about my order.. I placed it on September 22.. And it is October 12.. It has NEVER taken them longer than a week to arrive to me.. Luckily enough, a mini package was waiting for me! Yay!

Here we have CG: Zombie Zest, Ick-A-Bod-Y & Mummy May I, Orly Halleys Comet, OPI Ski Teal We Drop, and CND: Colour Urban Oasis and Effects Teal Sparkle.

I am obviously extremely excited about all of them.. But I am particularly excited to try the CND. PLUS! They have colour with the amazing Canadian 'u'. I am really not one for layering, but after the fun I had testing out the Dr. Pepper mani, this seems like a good plan!

I am a bit sad though.. I wish these would have arrived a few days earlier.. I would have swapped out Who The Shrek Are You and used Zombie Zest instead. Ahh well.. Now to use these three Halloween inspired polishes to finish off my Halloween Month themed nails!!

Have a great day everyone!

  • Zara - Yay! Thank you! That took me awhile to get them just *so*
  • shortwidenails - I thought it would take forever to dry, but it actually wasn't too bad. I also thought I would catch them on everything and have to change the mani soon after.. It lasted me a full week!!

That Bloody Thing

Yay October! Like many of you out there, October is my favourite time of year. My favourite season (fall), my favourite month and my favourite 'holiday'.. Actually, technically I have to be careful when saying that as I am Canadian and we do have a legit holiday this month.. Which is Thanksgiving! Woo! But I am talking about that pseudo holiday, Halloween.

I decided month and months ago that I would dedicate the month of October to strictly Halloween-esque nails. And I am staying true to my word.

The problem? The other day on Polish or Perish, one of the members posted THIS and I fell in love! I can no longer drink soda.. Which isn't so bad, but someday I want a glass so bad.. No idea why. Sort of weird. My favourite soda was/is Dr. Pepper, so when this Dr. Pepper mani was posted up I knew I had to do it. In my mind it would stomp that craving for some smooth DP.

So. I did it. LOVED it. Then, 3 hours later, I was bored. And I realized we're in October. Duh Dee, you promised yourself Halloween nails ALL MONTH LONG.

Easy fix? Bloody nails.

Sorry, you're getting pre-clean up shots. I was just about to go to bed.. But realized that I was working the next day and these bad boys would probably be destroyed.. They actually survived, but there is some dents that I don't appreciate, so you have to make do with this - I'm sorry!

Notice anything? Yeah! My trap door nail is GONE!!! It is really, really short.. And it hurts a bit when you touch it (with added pressure) but it is paintable! Soooo happy! Now random people don't have to ask why one of my nails is never painted. Rejoice!

I used two coats of Quirius Ruby Pumps over two coats of CG Liquid Leather followed by two thick coats of dripping blood courtesy of Essie Lollipop.

Whelp, that is all for now! I am not sure if I'll be back with a post again this week or not. We'll see how well these gems wear through the week. Plus I am STILL waiting for some polishes to arrive. This is the longest they have ever taken to get into my mitts. I am not impressed! Ahh well.

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

OH! AND! Side note: Are there any Halloween-esque nails 'y'all' want me to take a... stab at? Let me know via comment, twitter or e-mail and I will be happy to try!

  • Zara - Thankies! I just couldn't decide.. And since they are both sparkly and wonderful, I figured they would compliment each other. And luckily the effect is nice!!
  • shortwidenails - Ooh silver! I didn't even think of that! That would be a nice way to top it all off as well. And I know exactly how you feel on the ideas:nails ratio!
  • maRyya - Glad you enjoyed your visit. I will going to scope out your blog right after I hit 'publish post'.
