My Favourites of 2010

Before I post up my 'Happy New Years' mani (aka later in the day..), I figured I would post my favourite manis that I did this year.

I made a cap of 10..

These are in no particular order either.. Below the photos, I will post the link to that entry (in case you missed it..)

Those are my choices.. Do you agree? Something that I overlooked? Let me know if you agree or disagree with my 'highlight reel'.

I look forward to another amazing year with all of you! I am hoping to have even more entries.. Some with video tutorials - so watch for that as well.

Take care and have a ton of FUN ringing in the New Year!!

Bowed Blues

Tuesday nights are usually my 'it's time to get down to business and paint your nails!' night, but, I do have to work the next day (aka today).

I worked on filming a tutorial last night. Then, once I was done that and had nothing on my nails again, I felt.. sad? So. I did my nails anyways.

And now I'm still upset because they will be ruined today. It is extremely simple, but, in my mind, effective.

I apologize in advance because these pictures are probably going to be HUGE! (edit: nevermind, they aren't overly large!) I have to play with my camera size settings so I can get it to where I want. (I know how to do this - I just haven't.. yet.. yeah!)

I used two coats of Revlon Royal. I caved. I have seen these polish swatched in so many places! I had to have it! And, I'm happy I do. I love it!! Then, of course, I was bored. I grabbed Adoree Seaport Blue and sponged that on the tips. I should have left it, but I wanted to add something to it. I grabbed konad image plate m77 along with the white polish and added bows. I couldn't stop there though. I added in some silver rhinestones to the middle of the bows. Perfect.

I really like this mani. Sadly, it will be ruined today. Oh well, at least its memory is now captured in photos. Enjoy!!

Have a great day everyone! I better go pack some polish with me.. I am going on an overnight adventure.. My sister is housesitting, but has to go back to work tomorrow.. So we'll switch and I'll stay and watch the home (and adorable pets!) til the owners get back!! (Yaz you lucky magoo!) - Take care!!

My Christmas Nails

I finally did some. Took me long enough!!

Here are the nails that I have been sporting for Christmas.

I got the idea from WAH Nails. I am pretty sure the first way I saw them was with green, but they have a bunch of photos with the candy canes on a gold background.

Now, I cannot hear you gasping, but in my mind I can hear it. Why? Well, because of the extreme whiteness of this photo. My dad gave us a bunch of cash for Christmas (he also bought us a blu-ray player AND an xbox, plus the kinect.. it has been an amazing holiday season for us!!) - so, with some of the $$ he gave to moi, I bought myself a new camera.

I haven't mastered the settings on it. Which could explain how white my hands are. BUT. I kid you not, that is seriously how pale I am. All. The. Time.

NOW! Besides that.. I like the photos I am seeing from this camera. The images are very sharp/crisp and I love that!

Oh. Polish used.. CG Jolly Holly, OPI Alpine Snow, Essie Lolipop, CG Liquid Leather and CG Party Hearty.

Downfall? I filmed a tutorial the other day on my roses mani.. And uploaded it.. Or so I thought. Then I deleted without checking the folder, because, well, my other camera ALWAYS put EVERYTHING into said file. The new kid needs to be trained. Needless to say, tutorial video is gone.

BUT! I will re-film. Maybe even tomorrow. We shall see!!

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I am kind of considering a nap. I worked this morning, came home, played kinect sports and now am tired. Heh.

Talk to you all again soon. I think I am going to change my nails this evening (:

  • shortwidenails - I used dotting tools (: I tried to film a tutorial.. Yet failed to upload it properly.. Grr!! But I will re-film and have a tutorial up early in the week (:

Rose Comforter

Hey everyone!

My nails right now totally make me think of a B&B and what I hope they would either have as their comforter/bedspread or wallpaper. Strangely enough, I love it.

I feel this photo doesn't quite do it justice, but all of my other snapshots sucked, so this will have to do!

I also have to apologize for my cuticles. I have been doing a bunch of baking, cleaning and dishes lately. Despite slathering in cuticle oil and lotion every night, they still look like that! Grr! I figure the cold weather doesn't help things much either.

I know my roses are not the greatest, but for my first attempt, I am quite pleased.

I chuckled quite a bit over them this afternoon. There I was, clutching an xbox controller, playing UFC, career mode with my awesome figher, with super girly nails. Sigh.

Here is what was used: CGs Re-Fresh Mint & Lemon Fizz, Konad Special Nail Polish in White, OPI Shorts Story, CG White Out & Brucci Roberta's Green Garden. Also, I used Konad image plate m79 and a dotting tool.

Dotting tool sent to me from Born Pretty Store for review.

I really wanted to either do a full crackle nail mani OR use my new Essie Little Brown dress.. But for some reason I just had to do this.

I did want to use December as a month to just showcase Christmas themed manis, but I really couldn't be bothered. Which is strange. I think I will have Christmas-y nails on Christmas and that is all..

I hope everyone is having an terrific Thursday! See you soon (:

  • Jennifer Leigh - Thankies! It is so fun to use (:
  • shortwidenails - I haven't tried it on my own nails yet.. But I don't think it should be too hard to remove. I will let you know though - I mean, it cannot be as bad as glitter, right? These rhinestones are larger than the set I bought years ago, but I kind of like them.. If I am going to sport rhinestones, I don't want them to be subtle! ;p
  • KarenD - Oh yes, it is kind of a hard choice now.. Just do something with polish or add some goodies? I am not complaining though!!

Playing With Goodies

**Important Edit** If you like any of the products I have posted about here OR you have scoped out Born Pretty and are interested in other products - please feel free to put your order in and get 10% off! Jessica is kind enough to supply my readers with a 10% off coupon code for the rest of this month. It is DEESY10 - happy shopping!! **

This evening, after I returned home from a friends house, I came to the computer desk and looked over at the goodies that had been sent to me. Then, an idea formed. Sure, I don't want to take off my current mani, so why not bust out the fake nails and go to town?

Perfect.

First, the C/Krackle polish. Love. It. I am actually going to take off my 5 point flower mani tomorrow (after running a bunch of errands) and slap this on. I might even use the same colours. I didn't add the thumb in as it just didn't work. I am not sure if it is because I used a glitter polish or what - but I will work on that! After they were done crackling, I topped it with Seche Vite. I am really excited to do this to my own nails!

Polish was sent to me by Born Pretty for review.

Then we have an attempt at Cheetah print.. I think I am starting to maybe get the hang of it? Although, despite what I am saying, I actually kind of love this. I used CG II as the base, then used my new love, dotting tool, along with OPI OPI & Apple Pie. Then I added the orange coloured rhinestones for some.. dimension!

Rhinestone wheel sent to me by Born Pretty for review.

Ok, so, this look was probably the most disappointing to me. I just couldn't get the pearls to go where I wanted and my bows are a bit wonky.. And adding the glitter was.. Well, anyways! I used OPI A Shorts Story followed by Street Wear Glitter. Then I used some of the pearls for the middle of the bow. Cute idea, I just need to execute it better!!

Pearl wheel sent to me by Born Pretty for review.

Now something that I wasn't enjoying while painting it, but then loved it afterward.. Started off with OPI Ogre-The-Top Blue (which I am disappointed that I have never used before!!!) followed with some sections of Orly Halleys Comet. Then I went rhinestone crazy..

Rhinestone wheel sent to me by Born Pretty for review

So, that is it for now.. I just bought Essie Little Brown Dress and am kind of dying to test it out! I think I just might have to do that!

I hope everyone has an amazing Friday night and a great weekend (:

5 Point Flowers

Hi everyone!

Usually on Tuesday evenings, I am just about becoming desperate to paint my nails. On the weekends, I work, and on Mondays and Tuesdays as well. Not really a problem.. I could still technically have my nails painted.. Except that I am working in the dish pit. So. My nails AND hands are pretty gross. Even though I do my best to try and not let that happen. (I wear gloves with my eczema cream and cuticle cream while reading before bed.. Then I take them off and lather up in lotion.. Still doesn't always work!)

So, like I said earlier, come Tuesday evening, I am chomping at the bit to do my nails!

Last night was no exception.

I perused through my inspiration folder and found something that was perfect because I wanted to play with new toys!!

I got the idea from NailArtIdeas on youtube. She has some great ideas. Check them out!

The colours used are all OPI: Alpine Snow, Lucky Lucky Lavender & Sapphire In The Snow.

Now, this would be the part where I talk about one of my good friends, Bobby Pin, but, not today. No. He has been replaced.

On Monday morning, just before I left for my shift.. A package was waiting for me. From Born Pretty. YAY! There are some really awesome goodies that were just waiting for me in that package. I am extremely excited about all of them, but particularly these bad boys!

Now. I have never used a dotting tool before.. So, I selected a larger dot (pink tool in the middle) and used that for my thumb and index finger.. and I do believe my pinky.. Then I realized that there are different sized dots for a reason! I used the smaller dot for the rest of my nails.

I am actually really glad I received these. I have hummed and hawed over purchasing dotting tools for a very long time. I am now disappointed that I never did buy them, but happy because something else has brought me joy in this nail polish world. Right on!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday. I will hopefully be back before the week is done with another video tutorial (I have it all drawn out! wee!) and maybe a look with some other goodies. Take care til then!

Dotting Tools were sent to me by Born Pretty - check out the website for some really great nail art goodies!

  • KarenD - I can never just slap on some safe matte polish, I have to go all out. I think my savior in it all is Seche Vite! And thank you (:
  • shortwidenails - I didn't even get to bowl. It was 5 pin. I loathe 5 pin bowling! Basically, it was a waste of my time going :( Oh well! I think that design might be my favourite. Although I want to get the plate with the cheetah print.. Might make doing cheetah print easier and make me love it more on my nails! Ugh, I know. Maybe next year? Haha! I didn't, but I would like to wear one someday! Although I am not sure if I will go with a real hollowed out melon or a fake (;

Scribbled Paint

That is what I think about when I see this image plate used..

I was feeling a bit lazy the other day.. That and I had about 30 minutes until it was errand running time.. BUT! I had naked nails. I do not like that.

I had Little Drummer Boy still sitting at the desk.. So I slapped on some of that.. Then sprinted to the collection area and nabbed Adore and an image plate.

Sorry for the messy photo. I took another photo two days later, but there is some chipping on my index nail. What I am excited about is that I have been working a bit more on the light box. The polish bottle photo is using the improved box. I haven't perfect my camera settings to it yet.. And I am not sure if I like the lamp/light YET, but I don't want to correct things too much to this camera as my Christmas gift to myself will be a new camera. This bad boy is just over 3 years old. He has served his purpose!

Oh, the colours used are: CG Little Drummer Boy & CG Adore stamped with konad image plate m70.

I was procrastinating cleaning up my room and or computer desk.. Get started.. Then decide to do this post instead. Now I start back at work tomorrow.. Gee.. I guess this cleaning will have to wait until next week (;

Have an excellent weekend everyone! Yay for staff Christmas party tomorrow!! I might have to do my nails up.. But we are going bowling.. hmm.. tough call!!

  • Zara - They were pretty great! Sadly I didn't get any photos of them.. I waited til the next day AFTER work, and they were chipped everywhere. It was still fun for a day!!
  • KarenD - Haha glad I am not the only one that thought they could be similar! Now I am just glad that I second guessed my second guess (a third guess?) and bought it anyways.
  • Lois - I am really glad I have both!! And I know, I am seriously the worst for that!!
  • shortwidenails - Haha, I so should have! Then maybe it would have gone differently :( I don't think I have anything that can dupe anything else I have.. I am just starting to work on getting photos of all my polish.. So I guess we'll see in a bit. I'm nervous about having dupes.. Then I will just be angry with myself! Even angrier if I have been using both and not noticing as well (;
