Welcome 2011

With a photo of my nails.. And some goodies I have picked up in the last few days.

I guess I will first start off with my fail NYE mani. I was so pumped to finally try Essie Little Brown Dress that I completely forgot that it was NYE. Duh. I just decided to sponge on some glitter ala OPI Sparkle-icious.. Then I added some star shaped glitter. I didn't totally hate it, but, I forgot to press the star glitter in to the polish.. It started lifting pretty badly. I had enough time at the end of running errands that day (yesterday) to snap a photo before the horrid removal process.

One of these days I will give Little Brown Dress the love and attention that it so deserves.

After I took off that disaster.. I was flipping through the InStyle January magazine.. And found this..

EDIT: This is where the scan of the image/article WOULD BE.. Now add in that my scanner is being extremely lame. Hopefully I can get it working asap.. Then all will make sense!!

It is Ruffian-esque.. But with some colours that I kind of like.. I of course had to test it out. I used CG Liquid Leather and Rimmel Lasting Pro Finish Steel Grey. After my shift today, I came home.. Have some very minor tip wear (and that is after working in the dish pit - yay!!) and I decided to finally test out a matte top coat. Second photo is with CG Matte Magic top coat.

Now some photos of goodies I have picked up in the last few days..
Essie polishes in Sew Psyched & Merino Cool

Orly Rage, CG Atlantis, Nail Life gripper base coat (LOVE!) and Orly Ridgefiller
Pack of 10 nail polish and art wheels, A.S.P (All Season Professional) 'Manicure Saver' - it grips the cotton balls for you.. I'm thinking it will be great for cleaning konad plates! A 10 pack of DL professional brushes and Tropical Shine mini 4-way buffer.

Yeah, I finally went to Sally's Beauty Supply.

Anyways, that is all for now! Hope everyone is having a great start to 2011! I am going to go watch a flick or play some kinect.. Or.. something!!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Day 27: The Hungry Asian Cookies (and) Cream

Hey everyone! I decided that for today and tomorrow (my last day - eeek!) that I would choose two polish that mean something to me. Today I am going to be sharing Cookies & Cream made by the awesome Kae aka The Hungry Asian. When I first started blogging, I immediately started following her. She is the reason behind many of my polish purchases.. heh. She started "frakening" polish awhile back.. and I had a HUGE lemming for Cookies & Cream - but, at the time, she wasn't shipping to Canada. Then, when she started to ship to Canada, I would always miss the restock times.. Then I just sort of.. forgot about it. Then, a little while back, while stumbling through all the amazing gems on etsy.. I saw a photo.. I didn't need to see the seller or the name.. I knew. It was ordered almost immediately. And it has sat.. until now. It still makes me heart smile. And now that it is mine? Constant smiling heart! I decided to not use undies on this. It is

Terrazzo Inspired Nails

Hey everyone! Will speed-race past a whole 'sorry I have been away' write-up and just go straight to the goods. I apologize in advance for my VERY dry cuticles (I cleaned up as much as I could in edit mode.. but, still bad) - I have been applying oil and lotions multiple times per day for.. weeks.. and.. no beneficial results, sadly. I went with terrazzo print inspired nails for this go-round. I started with a base coat, then OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI, then, using the brush for the each nail polish, I went in with: OPI Suzi Shops & Island Hops, OPI Sailing & Nail-ing, OPI Amazon...Amazoff, China Glaze Liquid Leather, China Glaze Sweet Hook, Essie Chinchilly, Color Club Je Ne Sasi Quoi, and Sally Hansen White On - then finally topped with Seche Vite. I am hoping to slowly creep back into regularly posting new content here - so, stay tuned!
