Adopt A Polish

Hey everyone - I know, a break from the 31 Day Challenge - so you KNOW this is important stuff!!

I was sent some information about a website the other day - and I just couldn't view everything via my blackberry.. Now that I'm home with my desktop computer and able to view everything, I knew this was something I would have to share with you all immediately!

The information I was sent is about a website called 'Adopt A Polish' and I was wondering what the what that was all about.. Then reading the concept behind the site.. I died.. It is amazing!!

"Every day, thousands of nail polishes are abandoned or abused. They are not sickly or old, they are fine new polishes, stuck on a shelf because they are forgotten or out of season. All they desire is to be used, and maybe taken for a night on the town in return."

Seriously? This is the first paragraph within the press release - I knew I was sold on the idea!
I love the idea of nail polish needing to be adopted.. I think it is a cute idea (NOW, do not get me wrong.. I don't think animals or children being neglected/abused is a 'cute' idea, but nail polish = cute) and one that I needed to share with all of you!

"One current nail polish, Charleston, held back tears while describing his life, 'I spent two years of my life stacked in a dark room crammed together with thousands of others just like me, hundreds pressing down on my shoulders at any given time. I'm a shimmer, and I have never seen the sunlight in my life. Oh and don't be started on CND Shellac, I just can't keep going as long, why would any women want me?'"

"Please don't let the agony go on any longer than it has to. The first round of adoptions closes December 31st. Apply to Adopt a Polish at http://www.adoptapolish.org/category/current-adoptions"

Basically.. What are you waiting for? Come up with a great application of why you'd make the perfect parent to a forgotten about polish.. Maybe you'll use that colour to adorn your nails and then go out for a picnic.. Or use it to go out with your blind date set-up.. OR.. Well, you get the idea! This is open to Canada and the US.

OH! This also introduced me to the website www.nailpolishcanada.com (they are sponsoring Adopt A Polish) - I went perusing the site.. UHM! Deborah Lippmann polish is on there. The only place I have ever found them was in West Edmonton Mall. I am kind of dying. They also have 'Bad Romance' still up for sale. This is going to be a very Merry Christmas for me!!

Hey Delaynee, they sell Lippmann polishes in Regina at the Coco Nail Lounge and I think they're $18 or $19 a bottle. :) www.coconaillounge.com/

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
