Gem Nails + Two New Kids

Last week, my friend asked me if I could do her nails (we will call her by my favourite nickname for her: Yaz). She really liked the nails that Samantha was sporting in SATC2. Yaz loaned me the other, which I watched on the computer so I could screen cap the nails as I could not find them via the internet ANYWHERE!

Then we did our take on them. Yaz has gel nails, and when she went to get them filled, they didn't have a nice dark blue (like Sam has) - so she decided on a lovely purple-magenta-y colour. We then used some nail gems and a couple polishes, along with a dotting tool, to achieve this:

I got to see them again last night.. We did these on either Wednesday or Thursday (I for the life of my cannot remember.. The days all blend together lately..) and she hasn't lost a single gem!

I have also acquired two new polish brands (to me!).. Meet my two newest children:

We have Zoya Valarie and Sparitual Drop Dead Gorgeous. When I ordered these, I was obviously loving purple. I ordered them from a new (to me) company that was recommended by a friend. I actually ordered three polishes.. And yet there are only two pictured. I am still waiting for OPI Black Shatter to show up. This company has terrible costumer service.. I will never be doing business with them again.

Which brings me to a question for all of you: What (if any) websites do you order polish from?

I used to order from TD, but now shipping is $20 regardless. I am looking for a place that either ships to Canada or is located in Canada, is up to date with collections AND won't cost me a small fortune to ship polishes.

I also had Valarie on for a few days.. I forgot to photograph before work yesterday.. The application and colour is amazing! I cannot wait to add more Zoya to my collection! And I am currently awaiting the arrival of my CG Crackle polishes! Woo!

That is all for now!

Reptile

I have no idea why.. But lately I have been obsessed with snakeskin. No, I would never wear something snakeskin (real or fake.. I am pretty sure I wouldn't.. ah geez!) - but the idea of it seems rad..

I looked at some images online of snakeskin nails - most either used stickers, konad or mesh. I have 1/3, and none of my plates would give me the results I wanted.

Now. I didn't have mesh.. but I did have lace. I mostly wanted something to lay under where I was going to sponge for texture.. And this is the result..

I even included a snapshot of my rarely photographed right hand.. Looks fairly scary.. The only reason that photo is included is to show that the base colour I used was more prevalent on that hand - and I like that.

I used: OPIs Gargantuan Green Grape & Jade Is The New Black, CG Liquid Leather, Essie Sew Psyched & OPI Alpine Snow. I also used my trusty little brush for the black lines. Gargantuan Green Grape was my base (in case anyone was wondering..)

After my base was dry, I put lace over my fingernails and sponged on top of it.. I started by sponging one colour at a time.. But have more fun just mixing and matching afterward.. I am really not too sure if the awesomeness of these bad boys shows through via these photos, BUT, I am quite in like with them.

Sorry I disappeared for a bit there. Apparently working these extra shifts is sucking my will to live. That paired with the gym, my brother's hockey games and a sad attempt for a social life equal no time for blogging. Bad me, I know!

Hopefully sometime tomorrow.. Err.. Make that Saturday - I will post up some work I did on a friend's nail and some goodies I received in the mail today (and also a mini rant!)

I hope everyone has been having an amazing week and that is continues through to the weekend! I am off to get ready to go have a Jersey Shore/Movie Evening with a friend. Then it is back to work tomorrow.. bleh!!

  • Lacquer Ware For Tips and Toes - I know right? I am just glad you understand what I am talking about (:
  • Aurora's Nails - No, no it is not. Now I am the complete opposite. I could literally sleep at any given moment. Silly body - make up your mind! And thank you!!
  • Deez Nailz - I am always practicing that sweet, sweet zebra stripe.. Same goes for Cheetah print.. At least we all can do decent fakes, right? And I saw it! You did an amazing job!!

Atlantis Zebra

Hello everyone!!

Hope you all had a great week! The start to mine was a bit crazy.. For some reason I decided it would be rad to work two shifts on Sunday.. Basically 16/24 hours worked. It has led me on a strange path of sleep deprivation aka destruction of my life. At least my next pay cheque is going to UHmazing. I need to start saving for Edmonton anyways..

Now that the intro is out of the way, let's move on to what I am currently sporting on my nails..

There is a definite possibility that I took 43 photos and these were the two that I liked the best.. And they are still not so great. CG Atlantis was being a major pain for photographing. BUT! I am happy to report that my new camera is back in business! Thank you ebay for saving me $44 (plus taxes) for a new charger PLUS spare battery.

These are the gems I used: Nail Life Gripper Base Coat, CG Atlantis, CG Liquid Leather, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, and my handy nail art brush.. That I still keep in the gross yellow polish as it keeps the brush in tip top shape.

I hope you'll all have a great weekend! The next couple of weeks are going to get a bit insane via work, but I am hoping to still sneak in at least one post a week! Also, I have been working on getting a swatch of each polish I use. Not only to keep cataloged on here for all of you, but also to ease my troubled mind.

Take care til next time!!

  • Swaafie - You really should! You would do such a great job with it!!
  • shortwidenails - I will show you a close up of the brush that I love! I did buy a set of brushes last month, but haven't really used them.. Anyways, the brush..

is like that.. nothing too serious.. Sometimes I have that happen to.. I still do designs even when I know they are going to get wrecked the next day. I cannot help myself!! Oh, and here is a photo of the SH Nail Art Pen - it is like working with a permanent marker, basically..

  • Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes - Thank you! I thought so too (:
  • Alyssa - Hah, I thought about it after and wondered if I should just have put 'A' - as long as it is ok, your name will stay as is!! Bah! If I would have known you were looking for that gem - I would have told you!! I found it once at a Shoppers, and then saw that display at 'The Store'. I am just glad you have it now!!
  • amelia - Well, sometimes I am not so creative, but I am an okay copy-artist (: But thankies!!
  • JQ - That is an awesome comparison! I would have never thought of that!! Thank you!
  • Musicalhouses - Thank you for thinking they are neat! I was right next to displeased with my work, but, it seems that people really quite liked it (:
