Electric Pineapple Attempts Camo

And sort of fails. Although, I don't hate this.. It just isn't quite how I wanted it to turn out.

First, I shall start off with a photo of Electric Pineapple on its own..

I feel it is the younger and more diluted brother of Who The Shrek Are You.. And I kind of like that! I feel this is going to be constantly on my toes during summer.. And I haven't been a toe painter in a long time, so that is saying A LOT!

Now, a bit of an intro to what I did to my nails after.. I was perusing nail art images, specifically for camo print nails.. And came across the forums at makeupgeek.com, specifically the thread of nail art.. The nail art photos are amazing, but one continuous poster caught my eye and it just so happens that she has a blog!! I am a little upset that I never came across her before, but I have to say.. I am in love with her work!! I feel that I will be using a lot of her images for upcoming looks!!

Her name is Kayla and she runs this BLOG and she is fantastic at nail art.. Check it out!!

Her nails are obviously better than mine, but I tried. It didn't really turn out camo-esque, but, I don't hate them. She also used yellow as her base, but I really wanted to use Electric Pineapple. Badly.

I ended up using: CG Electric Pineapple & OPIs: No Room For The Blues, Elephantastic Pink and A Grape Fit!

I also used a dotting tool, which was provided to me by Born Pretty

There is nothing currently wrong with these nails, but I think my nail painting habit has mutated. I fight myself to not paint my nails something different everyday! It.. Is actually beginning to feel like a sickness. I may or may not be worried.

  • shortwidenails - They are rather amazing.. Now I kind of want to sport them! My mom just has to put up with it. She asks me to paint her nails, and it seems to me, the crazier, the better! She was pumped when I just put dots on her nails and then ecstatic when I added some cheetah/leopard-esque action. Have you ever asked your mom? Maybe she would surprise you!! And funny you should ask about my brother's nails. I don't think he would ever allow me to do some nail art test runs, but he does have to help me make some polish colour decisions every now and again. I ask for his input (:
  • Jeanelle - Yay! Glad you like them! And, they are very lucky, heh! My sister actually does her own nails 99.987% of the time, that evening I just felt like doing other peoples' nails. I told her she should let me start taking photos of the designs she does.. One of these days maybe..
  • Niki* - You so should!! You would do an awesome job of them!! And I shall go check that out once I hit 'publish post'.

Guest Nails Vol. 2

Technically this should be 'Guest Nails Vol. 3', but I mislabeled my other guest nails.. Whoops!

I mentioned in my last post that I got to do my sister's nails and my mother's nails the other night.. And I said I would try to get photos..

I mean, obviously I got them.. Or this post wouldn't exist.. Right?!

On to the nails!!

First up are my sister's pokeball nails.. I cropped out her chipped nails.. So you don't get to see the whole hand.. I did it as a favor to her! They are actually really cute and fairly simple to do!! I used Essie Lollipop, CGs: White Out & Liquid Leather.

These are the nails I did for the mother. She told me to do whatever. So I did. The flash on the camera really changed the blue.. It is hard to believe that is Ogre-the-Top Blue. I used: CC High Society, OPI Ogre-the-Top Blue & CG Liquid Leather.

I think I will close this post with a Bennie photo, as it has been awhile since that rascal last made an appearance.

I think that about wraps it up for now. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to start an equally great week!! Til next time..

OH! I wanted to say that I received the GREATEST bbm AND photo from my favourite friend this evening.. She cheetah-upped her own nails! Using a toothpick! I LOVE them! Maybe I will get the photo on here (with her permission, of course) as I am extremely pleased with what she did! Gordo, you did me proud!! (: x 8000!!

  • Swaafie - Thank you! I honestly think that I will play with that colour on Tuesday evening! I am glad someone else shares my love for lime and yellow colours.. Specifically a hybrid of the two, heh.
  • Li Lian - Thank you so much! I always think they look like, well, crap, when compared to other people's nails. This is a HUGE compliment. I just use the brush, but to preserve it, I always put it back into the yellow polish.. I find it keeps the bristles together. I would be lost without my skinny brush!!
  • Zuzu - Thankies!!
  • rmcandlelight - Thank you so much!!
  • Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes - Again, a HUGE compliment! I am glad that you were able to tell what they were just by looking at them - my mission is complete!

Candy Swirls

Hello everyone! Today I am trying this whole 'scheduled post' business.. Fingers crossed that it actually works!!

Today I bring you my interpretation of these rad nails I found via tumblr last week..

Once again I apologize for my extremely worn out cuticles/surrounding areas.. I have been diligently applying every lotion/oil/gel in my possession, and these bad boys are the results. Le sigh.

To create these, I used: CG White Out, OPIs: Mod About You & Shorts Story and of course my nails' bff.

I actually started out trying to do something else involving Mod About You, but when those nails did not pan out.. I still really wanted to use that colour.. So, to zee inspiration folder I went.. And of course I wanted to do something super girly! Success!

Actually, last night was a lot of fun for me on the painting of nails front. I did my sister's nails first.. They are pokeballs!! Then I did my own.. Once the mother caught wind that I was doing nails, she of course wanted hers done as well. She is sporting some seriously bad ass looking cheetah/leopard/polka dotted nails. At her doctor's appointments, she was asked x 3 if they were nail stickers. I take that as a huge compliment!!

Hopefully I can snag some photos of their nails before they get chipped/wrecked! If all goes according to plan, I will share a snapshot of both on my next post.

Well, I better scuttle off to bed! Work in the am, then a super rad gym and movie date with a friend (:

OH! Wait.. Before I go..

I picked up these little fellow today.. CG Electric Pineapple. He did not photograph well, but he is a hybrid of lime green and yellow.. At least in my eyes. A very strange shade, which is why it caught my eye and landed itself at the till and then came home with moi!

Okay, now that is all!

Oh, no, I lied. The dad was asking if I had filmed anymore nail tutorials lately.. Which reminded me that I have not!! Anything I have posted lately that someone wants to see a tutorial of? I have a charger and backup battery for the camera now, so I am good to go!

Okay.. Done!

  • Zara - Thankies!! And lies.. I bet you would AND could make amazing shamrocks!!

St. Patrick's Day Nails

This post is going mostly be about my St. Patrick's Day nails.. But I had to mix in some other random photos/stories as well.. Which I usually do.. Anyways, onwards to the post!

Since I am doing St. Patrick's Day themed nails, I obviously have to do something with my favourite colour: green. I personally love every shade you can throw at me.. Even the crazy 'puke' greens. I can never get enough green! For the look I did, I used: CC Twiggie and OPI Jade Is The New Black. I also used a dotting tool that was sent to me for review from Born Pretty.

And here they are. Hopefully you can tell that I TRIED to do clovers.. I don't hate these, but I don't really love them either.. And some look half decent.. Others.. Erm, not so much! But whatever, I tried!!

Oh, and, Happy Birthday to YD if you ever stumble across this post! Your date of birth is totally and completely fitting of a 'holiday' for you!!

The next thing I am going to talk about is the perfume I bought the other day.. Now, my sister, her friend, YD and myself are all heading to Edmonton next month (I am extremely excited!!) - so I have put off my order from Sephora as we're going to be going to one of their actual stores (they are also building one here.. just not sure when.. anyways!) - I really wanted THIS perfume.. Because I heard it smells like green apples, which I love. Then I remembered Shopper's Drug Mart and their perfume selections. Went there. So glad I did not order that perfume. I would have disappointed. It smells terrible to me!! I was stumbling around the rest of the fragrances slightly upset, then this caught my eye and I remember hearing that the Harajuku Lovers perfumes actually smelt really great.

And.. This one does! It smells extremely coconutty to me, which I love! Also, I am scent sensitive and this has yet to make me stuffy/coughy/sneezy/bitterly angry.. Perfumes always seemed like the ultimate girly thing to me.. And it just so happens that lately being extremely girly is exactly what I am going for. I just wanted to type about my happy findings with this perfume!!

Finally.. These little darlings showed up!! I am really pleased to have them all in my possession. I personally really like the crackled trend. I find it looks like you've done something really fun and interesting with your nails when you haven't really done anything at all aka they will be perfect for my lazy days.. When I don't want to do nail art!! Pictured are: Fault Line, Black Mesh, Crushed Candy, Lightning Bolt, Broken Hearted and Cracked Concrete.

My sister actually had CC Twiggie with Fault Line (purple) over top on the other day.. It looked amazing together!!

Anyways, that is all for today! I hope everyone has an amazing day! I imagine I will probably have another post up before the end of this week (:

  • Swaafie - Thank you! I know she used gold sequins, which I was going to do.. But I wanted something a bit different and more button-y!
  • Minty - Ooooh awesome idea! I totally accept the challenge! Expect a post about that soon!!
  • Tierney - I knew you would like them!! You should totally do something like that for one of the yacht club parties!!

One Less Lonely Glitter Shattered + Nautical Nails

I know I should really hold on to one of these 'posts' so I can spread them out a bit.. But if I do that, I will forget to post them and they will be lost in a sea of other photos. So, you all get two different looks in one post.

I am going to start with One Less Lonely Glitter, which is in the Nicole by OPI Bieber collection. My sister, her bff and I were out shopping last weekend.. And we stumbled over the Bieber collection.. I wasn't overly excited by any of the polishes (don't get me wrong, they are lovely.. but.. I feel like I have a lot of the shades in my collection already..) Then I stumbled upon OLLG and fell in love. But I didn't pick it up that day.. I just kept thinking about it. I ended up back there a couple of days later and snagged a bottle of it!

Now, you all know by now that I am not just a swatch kind of person.. Nor am I one to really just wear a polish and be happy. There has to be something else to it.. Although I did love this all on its own. What to do.. Oh right. OPI Black Shatter.
I wore this for 4 days.. And had some minor chipping going on (see the thumb..) but I really did enjoy this combo.

Then, I decided to listen to the ideas of my favourite friend and try nautical nails. Now, when I think of nautical nails, I think of this POST and how amazing her nails look.

I tried my best..
Of course it doesn't look as amazing as hers.. But.. I still kind of like them! The only thing I would change is the gems that I used. I think if I used smaller gems, I wouldn't have picked them off so quickly and ruined everything. I did get quite a few compliments on them though. Maybe I will try again some day.

I used: CG White Out, Essie Lollipop and Revlon Royal. Also used is my trusty little brush and some gems I received from Born Pretty.

Well, that is all for now! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend and has a good start to their week!!

  • ABOP - Thank you - I kind of like it more now looking back on it..

My Cuticles Are Terrifying

I am currently sporting OPI Alpine Snow with some OPI Black Shatter over top.. Which makes up my favourite combo (black and white!!) - BUT - I was just looking at the photos I took.. And.. My cuticles are extremely scary.

I mentioned I have been really sick.. When I get sick (I assume this happens with a lot of people), my skin gets really dry.. Despite my best efforts (high H2O intake, lotions, etc) my skin is extremely dry. Especially my cuticles and surrounding nail area. I should just leave that alone.. Right? Wrong. I am a picker. I usually pick and peel my skin until I bleed. I don't even notice sometimes until I use the washroom or something and have to wash my hands.. Then, voila! Blood. Bad Dee!!

I will give you a photo of something I wore last week. My mother and I were meeting up with a friend of hers (and her friend's daughter) to see a movie. I really do not like going out and not having my nails painted.. So I quickly applied this to my nails. I know I have an image with this look somewhere in my inspiration folder. Anyways..

I useddddd OPI A Grape Fit and CG Liquid Leather. And see? My cuticles and that weren't too bad.. You know what.. Because I like to run this here blog on honesty.. And want all of you to see when I make mistakes as well.. I will show you how scary my nails are. Both. Hands.

Remember, you were warned.

You can still close the page..

No? Well, ok.. Here are my scary hands as of right now.. (I seriously snapped the photos 10mins ago..)

Yikes! I really do apologize.. And I hope I don't lose a ton of followers for posting these ugly photos! Le sigh.

In other news.. I returned home today.. And there is a little package waiting for moi. I believe it is nail gems.. So I will play with those some time.. AND! My best friend has given me 3 awesome nail art ideas lately. She BBMs me them.. And I quite like them! I am hoping that by next week I will actually have the energy to start doing some fun designs again. Seriously, this cold will be the death of me.

I should probably sneak off to bed asap here. I have work.. I have no idea how I am going to pull that off.. A bit of shopping AND a movie to attend tomorrow. I am going to med up and pass out! Have a fantastic night everyone - and a terrific weekend (:

  • shortwidenails - They actually look like they took a lot of time and patience, when really, they didn't! I had all the colours on a piece of paper and just went around, dabbed some polish on to my sponge and immediately on to my nails. If I thought a colour was too heavy or there wasn't enough of another, I just got more of the polish and dabbed it on! I think I am going to do these again some time soon - maybe with some different colours (:
  • Halifax - I know hey? Maybe one day we'll get some equality with the polish companies OR some amazing online shop will open that is Canadian and won't charge double for the polish alone. Ahh dreams - so nice, aren't they?
  • Chantal - It is one of the worst feelings.. I agree with you there!!

Absence

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to get in a quick post explaining why I have not been posting too much lately.

It isn't because I don't want to be. Honestly, I would much rather be doing my nails everyday than not. No, the reasons I haven't been updating a couple times a week are: work and being extremely sick.

Now, work happens. Extra shifts happens, etc. Usually no big deal. BUT. With those added shifts, I just decide to skip doing my nails as they get wrecked right away anyways. I think the month of March returns to normal for me though.. Well, near the end of the month it will get crazy, but that is quite a bit away.

I was actually sick not too long ago.. Now I am sick once again. I figured this was just a sinus infection, but now I am thinking it might be something a bit stronger. Ugh. I really do not like going to see a doctor when I am sick as I always feel I would be taking up someone else's time who might be worse off than me. I know it is stupid, especially since I am pretty much in physical agony right now.

Oh well, such is life. If I still feel this miserable by Friday, I will try to make an appointment with my doctor.

I am also house-sitting for a friend right now. I did bring some polish along. I finally received OPI Black Shatter, and have been dying to do the rainbow nail underneath the shatter-y goodness! I am hoping to do my nails by Friday as well. Fingers crossed that I can stop blowing my nose and hacking up a lung long enough to do so.

Phew. Long update. Couch and netflix - here I come!

I hope everyone is having a great week and is in good health!!
