Edmonton Trip

I know I like to keep this a strictly nail polish blog (or, at least I think I do..) but today I am going to post up some of the make-up goodies I bought while in Edmonton. Do not fret, I did also buy some nail polish.

I will start off with these gems. Now, my favourite colour is green.. And I really love green polish.. Also, I only own 1 sparitual polish.. I believe I paid $12ish for it to be shipped to me.. They had these lovelies boxed up together for $17.50.. Of course I was sold. The colours are Greenhouse (Glitter) & Earth Matters (Glitter). Another thing that sold me was that the insert is plantable. I love stuff like that! After I read that part aloud, my friend was like 'now you obviously have to get them!' - SOLD!

I thought planting it and watching it grow would be amazing.. What would make it more amazing? Photo-documenting it and sharing the process with all of you. Luckily the dad has been on some strange plant growing obsession lately, so all the supplies are at my disposal. (Side story: we tried to grow pumpkins last year.. We needed about another month, but frost came early, etc, SO he decided to start growing them indoors and then transplanting them outside once it is safe.. they are growing like mini demons and that pleases me!)

OUR seed card is in the pot. The other little guys are flowers and I believe some other pumpkins. 4 of the pumpkin plants have already been transferred to pots that are at the kitchen window. Anyways.. Enough about plants!

As we were leaving this store (it is called Murale, and I will talk more about that in a moment) - we of course stumbled upon a 50% off bin. I noticed this pretty little fellow nesting within the bin. I have really liked browns lately.. I rarely use them, but I know that if I buy them and hate them, the mother will be pleased to get her mitts on them.. Win/win! This is also my first GOSH polish - yay! This is Golden Brown.

Now for my piece de la resistance - My very first Deborah Lippmann polish. This is Across The Universe. I had probably seen 3.8 million photos of it online and was like 'meh', but seeing it in real life!? Amazing! I was hoping they would have a bottle of Bad Romance sitting around as that is the polish I really wanted.. But nah. He will suffice!

The store that I bought these children at.. To be honest.. We wouldn't have even stopped in to. We had already been to Sephora and spent a small fortune on make-up, BUT, as we walked by, my friend was passed a little book. She was aimlessly flipping through it as we walked and I stopped, mouth agape and said: "was that Deborah Lippmann polish on that page?!" - she flipped back, it was, we walked backwards and straight in to the store. Yes, it is my first Lippmann and it is my most expensive polish to date. I was told to put it away and that only I am allowed to use it. I like these rules.

I think I did pretty good with buying nail polish in Edmonton.. Only 4 bottles.. Oh right, those rules do not apply when I get home. I bought two more yesterday.

I was just going to get Teenage Dream because they finally restocked them and I just really like that song.. Of course when I get to the till, the cashier tells me that if I buy two OPIs I can get a bottle of Avo Juice free.. Now, for someone that has stupidly sensitive skin that most lotions will slaughter and eczema moves in, Avo Juice is a lotion I can actually use. Sold. I was looking at Last Friday Night anyways. They are both beautiful. I am happy to own both.

Now, I am going to post some photos of the make-up that I bought from Sephora.. Hopefully that will be ok.. If that isn't your cup of tea, I apologize and you're more than welcome to 'x' from this page now - and I hope to see you later (:

Ok, I lied. It isn't ALL from Sephora. These gems are from Victoria's Secret. The eyeshadow quad is called Menage and the radiant face trio is called Captivate. I wore Captivate out yesterday, and when it looks amazing when it catches the light which is quite often.

Here is Make Up Forever HD Foundation in 107. This is their 'lightest shade' with deep pink undertones. I decided to not test it out yesterday as I am sick and was just going to the mall. 110 didn't match me at all and this one seems like it does. Fingers crossed!

Then there is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. I knew I was buying this before we got in to the store. I have used this for a long time and it was time for a new one. I really like the new tube model.. I mean, the wand is great, but I don't really need it!

Then I bought a sponge-tip smudge brush by Sephora.. And some of their mascara, I believe it is this one. I haven't tried it yet, but my friend did and she loves it!

I was so excited to buy these! But when we got into the store, there was no display for the naked eye collection and one left, and absolutely none of the natural eye. I was a bit upset, but decided to keep wandering around the store. I couldn't stop thinking about them. I finally asked one of the sales associates if they had anymore.. They did. My friend and I kept looking at both.. And she said 'I kind of want both..' which is exactly what I was thinking. We decided to get both. I haven't been happier with a purchase in a long time!

The first palette is The Naked Eye collection and the second is The Natural Eye collection. I used the 'Day' set from the natural eye collection yesterday.. It was easy to apply and looked awesome!!

Ok.. I am done!! I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend, or, just a great weekend in general! I really want to paint my nails, but know it is silly as they will just get wrecked tomorrow.. Oh dilemmas!

  • rebecca - You're very welcome - they are all true! I hope you do as well, as I need constant inspirational material!! And that is awesome (:
  • grace - Thank youuu!!

  • Prettyfulz - I think you should try it out!! You'll get many, many compliments on it!! I had people grabbing my hands constantly, and to me, that always means it is a great success!
  • JQ - Yay! I am glad you found it as well (: I think you should also give them a try, you would do such an awesome job of it!

Hearts

So, I stumbled upon a new (to me!) blog the other day.. And fell in love with pretty much all over her designs. Many photos have been stuffed in to my inspirational folder..

It is http://rebeccalikesnails.blogspot.com/ and she is amazing. I kind of feel weird talking about someone like this whom I have never met/spoken with/anything.. But still! I need to put down her blog url for some more recognition.. And maybe some of you haven't come across her as well. AND if you have and never mentioned her to me.. Well, you're mean (:

Anyways!

I came across this adorable heart design she did. Of course I had to give it a whirl. Now, I have to apologize in advance. I have been slathering my hands in lotion every few hours, applying cuticle creams, etc, and I still picked at my skin really badly the other day. So.. Uh, they look gross. Sorry x 10!!

I used: OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Shorts Story, CG Lemon Fizz, CG Peachy Keen, CG Electric Pineapple & CC Take Me To Your Chateau. I also used a dotting tool which I received from Born Pretty

I also forgot to post up these shots the other day.. Two of my favourite friends gifted me with some nail polish for my birthday.. And I love them dearly for that!!

The Fun Dip polish actually does smell awesome.. Well, at least the yellow gem does. I have this weird obsession/affinity for yellow polish.. Yet I don't really own too many yellows.. ANYways.. Then we have Finger Paints polishes in Art Dearler Teal-er & Model Colour. Both are awesome!!

Whelp, that is all for now kiddos.. I am off to Edmonton in the a.m and I am extremely excited about it! It gives me a break from S'toon.. And just everyday stresses.. Which is really, really nice!

I have a large lump sum of cash to spend. I plan on a new summer-ish wardrobe (I am looking at you F21), some new makeup (*cough*illamasqua polishes*cough*) and I really new a new purse. I need all of these things.. Plus maybe a bit more!? Who knows!!

Take care til next week everyone!!

  • jaljen - Haha, alright, I will think of something rad to do - or you can AND I will copy (:
  • Stephanie - Yay! Thank you very much!!
  • Minty - Thankies doll!!

Pink Plaid

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you a look that I really like irl, but the photos make my lines seem more shake-y.. Oh well! I also notice via the photos that I am either going to have to thin out the remaining contents of my Seche Vite OR start a new bottle.. We shall see!

I used: OPI Mod About You, OPI Shorts Story, CG Liquid Leather, CG White Out* & OPI Ogre The Top Blue.

*For my pinky and ring finger, the white is actually the CG Crackle polish.. I thought it was so weird that my white polish globs on the paper were drying up incredibly fast.. Yeah.. Because they were crackle polish. Whoops!*

Yesterday I went out shopping with the sis and a pal for a bit.. I know I shouldn't really be out shopping as our Edmonton trip is on Friday.. But oh well! I ended up buying a new button up sweater that is sort of something that I wouldn't wear aka it isn't black or all grey.. a wealth of goodies from the Body Shop, some MAC makeup (I used up a gift card and tossed in a few extra dollhairs), oh, and, nail polish, of course. My new kids..

Here is CG Watermelon Rind & CG White Cap. I have mostly seen White Cap used as a layering polish, and I am not really one for just laying a polish and calling it quits, but I figure it could be rad over other polish on my toes.. Plus I'll probably play it up on the finger nails at some point in time!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

  • FOREVER '92 - Thank you AND thank you! I think that is what drew it to me the most.. Zebra accent, how can one go wrong!?
  • Ash-Lilly - It always throws me right off.. I really dislike something, yet everyone else really likes/loves it. Makes me wonder about the manis that I personally love.. Maybe they look terrible? Who knows!
  • JQ - I think I might have to transform into a daily mani changer.. It has only happened the last 2 or 3 times, but I start to do something else, hate it, remove and start over.. And thank you!

Flaming V Dots

I am going to be honest with you all.. I had no idea what to call my post.. It could possibly make sense as you read through this, actually, it most likely will not. I am working with very little sleep after an amazing weekend!!

This was my first FULL weekend off in quite awhile.. The odd time I take a Saturday or Sunday off, but I RARELY get both days off.. I have been working as the admin assistant lately, so not only do I get a cake walk through the day (compared to, say, serving or doing dishes) but I also get weekends to myself. Bliss. I really need to get going with school so everyday of my future career will feel like a holiday.. Anyways.. Totally off track!

I honestly have not been very creative lately.. And all I do is copy other designs. Maybe I am just lazy. I have no idea..

The other night I grabbed Joe Butter to use.. It is a pale creamy yellow and I love it. I just had no idea what to do with it. I came back to my polish collection to grab something to add and spotted my sponge. Oh, of course.

I used: Joe Butter, Finger Paints Model Colour & CG Breakin'. They reminded me of fire.. And.. I am once again (forever?) on the fence about what I have done here. I didn't hate them, didn't love them. Meh?

Now I am sporting these bad boys..

They are based off of this IMAGE and.. I really, really, REALLY.. dislike them. BUT! Everyone freakin' loves them!! I am tempted to try and chip them just so I can do something different.. I might just have to. Bleh.

I used: OPI Need Sunglasses?, OPI Who The Shrek Are You?, CG Liquid Leather, CG White Out. I also used a dotting tool (provided by Born Pretty) and my trusty paint brush (in the yellow bottle).

I really want to wear Essie Little Brown Dress. Time to look for inspiration.

I need to get some sleep tonight. The next few days are going to be crazy. My mother is going in for total knee replacement surgery tomorrow.. Days will be filled with work and then hospital visits. I am going to be one tired magoo! Weird that for once in my life I am actually praying for it to be the weekend already!!

Hope everyone is off to a great start to their week (:

  • shortwidenails - Maybe I will on my next post.. I just have to remember to snap some photos! I also really like seeing items that people receive/buy, but I also don't want to come off as a jerkface! Usually I hate everything that my birthday represents - I was pretty pleased with it all!! Oh, and I use the foil method.. Yeah, it uses 10 cotton balls, but I use that regardless when removing glitter polish.. It works like a charm!!
  • Swaafie - Thank you so much - I had an amazing day!!

Happy (Belated) Birthday..

..to me!!

I have to say, this has probably been one of my personal favourite birthdays.. I finally feel like I am getting to a better place in my life. I am not sure why (ok, there are a few factors as to why I think I feel this way).. But this isn't really a personal blog.. So I won't bore you all with details!

For my birthday nails.. I went super simple.. Which was incredibly hard for me to do.

Now I am in a bit of a bind. I need to do my nails this evening, but absolutely nothing is inspiring me. It is a really terrifying feeling. I have looked through every image in my possession, every magazine clipping I have clipped.. I even looked at wallpaper pattern swatches online. Nothing. Ugh.

Anyways, here is what I was sporting.. And still currently am..

It is WnW Party of Five Glitters over top of CG Liquid Leather.

I am actually shocked how many compliments one can receive from just applying a glitter polish over black. It is insanity! And also extremely easy.. Maybe I should just do it more often.. I say it, and know I am lying!

I was going to photograph all of my amazing gifts, but I wasn't sure if that would be appropriate.. Plus I didn't want to brag.. I will just say that my friends and family are extremely generous and I seriously feel like the luckiest person on the planet. So, any of you reading this, I love you and thank you dearly! I love everything!

Now to figure out how to do my nails.. Le sigh!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic week!! My week is on some freakishly high high.. I am hoping it won't be followed by a crash!!

  • ABOP - Thankies.. I really appreciate that!!
  • Minty - Thank you lovely!!
  • Kayla - Well, I think I really wanted a fantastic copy.. And ended up with that! I had high hopes.. And I am happy to give the shout out - your work is amazing!!
