Cleopatra In New York

Hey everyone! Well, first off, Happy New Years eve! Any awesome plans for the night? I am still not feeling 100% after this almost week-long battle with this nightmare cold, so I don't think I will be going out to celebrate this evening.. whomp-whomp! BUT! I figured my nails still had to be some what fun, even if they were just to wear to work.. I didn't want to put in too much effort though, but, I wanted them to be a base in case I do decide to venture out and can bling them up some more.. Cue one of my new polish babies.. Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra In New York. (LOVE the name!) I own quite a few black with silver polish, but none with gold and black come to mind.. I had wanted to get this one when the DL polish was on sale at nailpolishcanada, but of course - it was sold out! When my siblings and I ventured out to Edmonton, I made it a point to stop in to Murale just so I could snap this colour up. Mission: accomplished! Black jelly-esque base, two different sizes

Leopard Print Holiday Nails + Tutorial

Hey everyone! These are some awesome nails that I was sporting a little while back. I even filmed a tutorial for them.. then I had some serious issues with uploading and blahblahblah.. Of course, with my brother's assistance for 5 minutes yesterday, he resolved the issues and all systems are go now. Urgh. My video isn't top notch - yet - my brother is pretty good with all that jazz. I told him he needs to teach me the "cool way" to make videos. It will happen! I realized that these nails are basically redundant until the next holiday season with all the fun-time parties, but, at least it is a start back into the filming world. Here are the nails.. I used China Glaze With Love (red), China Glaze Dress Me Up (light brown/taupe), OPI Over The Taupe (taupe), WnW Black Creme, and Orly Glitz (gold). I also used my dotting tools which were sent to me by Born Pretty. You can watch the video HERE OR See you all again soon!!

Belated Christmas Nails

Merry belated Christmas, everyone! Or, just, Happy Holidays! I do apologize - I'm running a touch behind and I haven't blogged in a little while here. I was in Edmonton last week, and then this week has been mostly a blur. And, on top of all of that, I am now "sick", though I won't admit to it, I just say "I'm not feeling well", I don't like to admit defeat that easily. Anyways. Just a quick post before I motor off to work where I hope to live through the day. Ugh. I saw this post HERE , loved it, and wanted to re-create it. Kayla Shevonne has a similar post HERE . I did a base of Orly White Out, then I did various dots of green: OPI Mermaids Tears, OPI Green-Wich Village, OPI Jade Is The New Black, and China Glaze Gaga For Green, then a quick dot of Orly Spark at the top, and some China Glaze With Love for the red activity. Have an awesome day everyone! See you soon..

Faux Christmas Marble

Or maybe faux needle drag mani? I really am not too sure. It is faux Christmas something or other.. Anyways.. Hello everyone! I went to work with bare nails the other day, and my favourite table of resident's were giving me a hard time - especially since my main critic had her nails painted a sassy pink! I told them it was their fault for not telling me how to do my nails (they toss me ideas from time to time and I will come in the next day with one of their colour choices) - so of course one lady said 'green and red, because it is Christmas time!' No problem. But what to do? I had not idea. Dots? Cool.. Lines? Rad.. What about a huge mix? Yes.  This was it after two days (I forgot to snag a photo before that!) I just painted strips of green, red, and white. The green is China Glaze Gaga For Green, the white is Orly White Out, and the red is China Glaze With Love - then once I had the strips painted, I grabbed a small dotting tool and just alternated grabbing

Wednesday + Melted Snowman

Hey everyone! Just a quick post before I have to head off to work.. The other day (ok, last week..) I paired Zoya Wednesday with Ninja Polish Melted Snowman - and I really thought the pairing was great! Many compliments, and lots of people actually understood the concept of Melted Snowman, which I thought was awesome! Fun, right? And I really like the sheen of hidden sparkly goodness that Melted Snowman has. This was one coat on top of Wednesday (except for my index finer, which got two.. I, uh, bumped it) I received Wednesday from my amazing pal Silver for our Private Pumpkin October "swap" I ordered Melted Snowman HERE - and at the time of this posting, there are still some available!! Have a great day everyone!!

Christmas Galaxy Nails

Oh yeah.. I have gone there. Hey everyone! I am actually quite excited to share these with you all!! I had this idea pop in to my head at work a couple weeks back. During break, I grabbed my phone and wrote myself a little note of what I wanted the nails to look like. Yeah. Some might find that really sad, but those of you that are in to nail polish and nail art will be more understanding.. right?! I feel the photos don't totally do them justice, but then again, when do they? They still make my heart happy. I started off with a single coat of China Glaze Liquid Leather , then a coat of China Glaze Cosmic (LOVE), then I sponged on some Essie Leading Lady and then some green Golden Rose polish. After that I tossed on some snowflakes and "stars" with China Glaze White On White . I am madly in love with the whole "galaxy nail" theme and I figured I could mash Christmas with them and add in some snowflakes.. which is how these nails came to be.

Jessica Glitterati

Hello everyone!! A couple of weeks ago, I put in an order with Ninja Polish aka my danger store.. and this polish was a last moment toss in the cart.. I didn't think too much about it. Even when it arrived I was like 'well, it is quite nice' and put it away in the untried drawer. On Sunday, I needed to paint my nails.. and I figure that since I have to change them a time or three during the week, I should pick simple colours or just glittery goodness. Queue Jessica Glitterati . I looked at it and figured 'well, why not?'. This polish is an absolute gem!! I received many a-compliments and had people scoping out my nails a few times during its wear. In certain lights/angles, the glitter is gold, or orange, or even green. Yeah. So. Good. ...Right?! This is 2 coats over a coat of OPI Get In The Expresso Lane . Sorry about the minor tip wear. Hopefully that isn't too distracting from the loveliness of Glitterati! I snapped up that polish HER

My Favourite Polish: China Glaze Edition

Hey everyone! My next set of favourites in this series come from China Glaze aka my largest brand collection. I have 82 (not including glitter) of them, so I figured that picking 20 for my favourites was fair. Here goes.. in no particular order, of course: Trendsetter - a vomit-esque, Dijon mustard colour with flecks of yellow. Yeah, obviously awesome! Of course this wouldn't be a favourite for everyone, but there is something about this polish and my pale skin tone that I absolutely love. Rich & Famous - This was another that I owned from almost the very start of my polishing ways. This is actually my third bottle.. because.. well, it is just an incredible pink! It reminds me of double bubble wrappers.. and it is another go-to-for-nail-art pink.. It is also almost perfect with just one coat. What is not to like? Entourage - This is another gem from the start for me.. Well, top 50 for sure.. It is a fun green with very fine green shimmer. It is one that takes a to

Ohh, The Weather Outside Is Weather!

...If anyone knows where that quote is from, then you're awesome. And if you don't, well, you're still amazing.. But you should probably see the movie it is from.. Anyways.. Hey everyone!! Ok. I am maybe a hair early for "winter/holiday/Christmas" themed manis.. BUT.. I was sent an e-mail from Nail Polish Canada to participate in a Holiday Nail Art Challenge. Of course I agreed to it. For the first week, the theme is: Snow. I knew I wanted to do snowflake nails.. but on what kind of base.. THEN I remembered the nails I wore to Breaking Dawn Part 2 on Friday - and knew they would be perfect. Of course all of you (except for my bff) have no idea what I'm talking about as they were ruined before I could photograph them. Yay for second chances! On to the nails already, right?? Beautiful, right? I do apologize for my shiny cuticle area. I have been slathering them so often lately - and even after a serious wash BEFORE the photos, they were still le

Ascension & Au Champagne

Hello everyone!! Today I bring you a quick post featuring two absolutely lovely polish: Ninja Polish Ascension & Orly Au Champagne . This is 2 coats of Au Champagne followed by a single coat of Ascension. This pair is just gorgeous. It is innocent and fun and clean looking. What isn't to like? I think my polish choices were swayed by the fact that my friend is now engaged and has asked me to be her MOH. I was looking through my "I need to use" polish and saw Ascension. All I could think of was white. Makes sense, right? It actually works really well for winter.. What do you gems think about it? Do any of you own Ascension - I'd love to see some other colour combos from any of you out there. I bought my bottle of Ascension HERE . I bought my bottle of Au Champagne from HERE - but I don't see it up on that site anymore.. Take care until next time!!

Lush Lacquer: Slumber Party, Cruisin 4 a Bruisin, and Snow Globe

Hey everyone! I received these gems in the mail a couple of weeks ago (I will include links for you to go scope them out and possibly purchase from etsy, where I purchased mine).. and I wanted to use them all in a mani before I posted about any of them. I finally have that task completed. I think I now have a solid 6 (7?) polish from Lush Lacquer, and I just absolutely love them. I especially like the three I am about to share with you all - so, let's take a little looksie! We will start with Slumber Party . When I saw THIS post over at Chalkboard Nails, I needed to have this polish so I could wear this combination. And I'm really, really glad I did get my mitts on it. This polish is a lovely mix of tiny white (matte) circular and square, circular black, circular blue, hex blue, hex purple, and large square pink glitters. I used two coats of Slumber Party over a coat of Orly Mirror Mirror.. I was going to leave it with one coat (because it did look amazi

My Favourite Polish: Glitter Edition

Hey everyone! My second edition of the 'My Favourite Polish' series. Today is going to be focused on... GLITTER! Now, to me, my subsection of "glitter" means that I need to put these polish on top of other polish.. Some polish contains glitter with a fairly opaque base and is okay without a base colour first.. so.. that is how I determine whether a polish is a glitter or not.. Yup. Here are my top 10 favourite glitter polish - in no particular order! OPI Glow Up Already - I have never actually posted a photo of anything I have done with this gem. How awful! It is a full out glitter gem with mostly greenish-gold toned glitter. And it is wonderful! I did like most of the glitters released in the Burlesque collection - but this one is definitely my favourite! China Glaze CG In The City - Another polish that I haven't really posted using.. what is going on with me?! This is purple-y and silver-y and exquisite. OPI Teenage Dream - All right. Another tha

My Favourite Polish: OPI Edition

Hey everyone! I was watching a video by one of my favourite youtubers the other day ( MakeupByTiffanyD ) and it was her top 20 favourite nail polish (video HERE ). As I was watching it.. I thought "this would make a great blog post!". I sat down at my book shelf of polish and started to select 20 polish. Errr.. 20 was more like 50+. Then I figured I could make it a mini-series of posts. YES! Perfect. I decided to break down mostly by brand name. Then I have some that cannot be broken down by brand.. but as I get to those, I will mix and match and still get all my faves in. I might even have to do an all star post.. we shall see (: The first grouping I will share with you is OPI. OPI Curry Up, Don't Be Late was one of the first polish I bought when I first started REALLY getting in to nail polish. The brand has always held a special place in my heart. That, and the formula is usually exceptional. These are in no particular order. Also, I decided on 10 OPI because I h

Cranberry Splash with a touch of Frozen Flame

Hey everyone! First, a touch of an apology. I'm truly sorry for the minor absence on my part. I have kind of been in some strange "funk" lately. I am still not sure what exactly happened, nor do I want to bore you all with details.. But I think I had a little bit of a shutdown period. BUT. I feel like I'm getting myself all rebooted up.. and I'm ready to join my regular life again aka blogging. I knew there was something really "off" with me when I was wearing the same horribly chipped nail polish for 3 days. Whenever I get a chip, it is immediately off when I return home. Finally, going in to day 4, I was like 'ENOUGH!' and rectified the situation. I did do a nail look that was awesome, but I didn't even photograph it. I will have to do so again soon. It was using some gems that Silver sent to me. Once I use one of the gorgeous polish she sent me (again) - I will do a full post! So.. sometime this week! Ok. Moving on! Saturday night..

These Nails Are Bananas - Take: Blue!

I saw that someone pinned my Banana Nails the other day. I loved seeing them again. I had forgotten about them. Queue to Saturday afternoon. I was searching around the internet for some yellow nail inspiration.. I just really wanted yellow nails.. and I wasn't set on any particular idea. Then I stumbled across this POST and I was like 'oommmgggggg Banana nails with a BLUE background.. YEX!!!' So I did them, immediately. I used OPI No Room For The Blues as a base, then I went on to use two yellows for the bananas: Butter London Cheeky Chops & Joe Fresh Butter , then I used some Orly Liquid Vinyl for the black details. I love these sosososososo much. Who wouldn't be jazzed about life to have bananas on their fingers?! See you all later!!

That Bloody Wallpaper

I did these last year based off of these nails from Sonoma Nail Art - which I am obsessed with. I seriously waited a whole year before I attempted them again. Now. Some things happened that I didn't like.. but.. I still like them better than my attempt last year. Bring on Halloween of '13 - I'll be ready!! Ok. What happened. I used a straw for some splatter activity.. and.. it annihilated my index and pinky finger. It was most upsetting. BUT. Then I realized.. it is kind of neat. I mean.. blood wouldn't always make a neat splatter pattern.. sometimes it is in pools.. it works. I used Color Club Nomadic In Nude, Wet n Wild Black Creme with konad plate m73, China Glaze With Love, and Color Club Red-ical Gypsy. Oh, and those cuticle areas were never coming clean. Red polish is a gem, but it is a beast to me. Until next year bloody wallpaper nails, until next year!!

Glitter All The Way First Mate!

Hey everyone! I ordered a polish (or four.. cough..) from the China Glaze Holiday collection.. and I know we aren't even through "Halloween" yet, but I really wanted to use this particular gem. So I did.. I do what I want!! Anyways. I painted a base of China Glaze First Mate on all of my nails (side note: I really, really love this polish! It is almost perfect in one coat.. and the colour is just so lovely and rich. Le sigh), I left it as is on my ring and pinky. Then I used two coats of China Glaze Glitter All The Way (I really want to say 'Jingle All The Way' ala Arnold's CLASSIC holiday movie!). GATW has red, green, gold, and purple glitter.. so I figured it would pair perfectly with a navy-esque blue. I feel I was correct. See you all later!!

This Is Halloween: Gradient

Hey everyone! As soon as I saw this on the challenge, I immediately thought "candy corns!!!!".. so that is exactly what I did. I didn't use my typical sponge-on method. I knew I had a fan brush somewhere, and I wanted to do that - but, of course, in its moment of need it is no where to be found! I then decided to try that cosmetic sponge method. HATED IT. But I still got a some-what decent look out of it.. Just much more messy. Awwwe well. I painted a base of China Glaze White On White, then I painted stripes of polish on the sponge. The colours I used are: Butter London Cheeky Chops (yellow), Essie Orange, It's Obvious!, and China Glaze White on White. Again, it didn't give me the exact look that I wanted, but that is all right. I will survive. They look fun anyways. Remember to check out the other challenge participants!!

This Is Halloween: Bats

Hey everyone! Sorry I am a bit late on this one.. I haven't been at the computer too much since Thursday.. so I didn't get a chance to post these up for Friday.. forgiveness please!! Also. I hate these nails. I had no inspiration for them.. and I didn't feel like doing black bats.. so.. I just did some Zombie Zest bats.. and not very well, might I add! The base is China Glaze Trendsetter and the bats are China Glaze Zombie Zest. That is all! Make sure you check out the other awesome gals taking part in this challenge!!

This Is Halloween: Zombies

Hey everyone! I am really, really, REALLY excited to share my gross zombie nails with you for this day of the Challenge. I viewed the awesome nails (and subsequent tutorial) from The Daily Nail - I knew immediately that I had to try that out at some point in time.. and zombie nails seemed like the perfect time to do so. I didn't get mine as squishy as hers.. so there wasn't as much wrinkling.. THEN I had a great idea.. I would legitimately press on my nails at lift polish and peel it and make it look gross. Totally worked to what I wanted.. Here goes.. I had to wrestle around with some dirt before snapping photos.. I feel like it added to the zombie effect.. I mean.. if I'm a zombie, washing my mitts is not something that I really care about anymore. I love these gross gems! Actually, my sister has requested that I do these for her nails on Halloween. The only thing I don't really like.. Is my pinky. I added too much of the puke-y green.. maybe that nail

This Is Halloween: Jack-O-Lanterns

Hey everyone! Super quick post before I head off to work. I remembered Kayla's awesome Jack-O-Lantern in the night concept from last year, so I went with that. Unfortunately, I only had 20ish minutes to do everything before I needed to pass out. Ugh. I didn't do it justice, but it isn't completely horrible! (on quickly scoping her site - I see she did brain nails.. that was going to be one of my additions for this Halloween.. and she did them so well! Guh!!) I used OPI Metallic 4 Life , Butter London Cheeky Chops , and Essie Orange, It's Obvious! And, it is obvious that if I don't leave asap - I will be late for work! Have a great Friday everyone!!

Milky Ways & Sweets Way

Hey there everyone!! I didn't realize that these two polish each use the word 'Way' within their names until right now. Awkweird. Anyways. I recently picked up Nails Inc. Sweets Way at my local Sephora (though on the website they have it listed as 'Sweets Away'.. ... ....) and wanted to use it asap.. I figure it would be fun to use in between Halloween manis. I was going to use a plain old white, but decided to use Lime Crime Milky Ways instead. I used two coats of Milky Ways and then two coats of Sweets Way. I could have gotten away with one coat.. but.. it is glitter activity.. I always feel the more, the merrier.. right?! I also like how Milky Ways gives it a warmer feeling rather than just a white base. I bet a light pink or a light blue would look really nice as well.. Ideas for next time!! Have a great day everyone!!

Bahama Mama & The God of Destiny

Hello everyone! Today I bring you Essie Bahama Mama with some accents of Rainbow Honey The God of Destiny .. Many of my favourite youtubers have been mentioning Essie Bahama Mama .. So when I stumbled across it at the store, I immediately purchased it. I love Essie polish.. but I think this is the first one (formulation wise) that I haven't been in love with. It is extremely runny.. I have never had that with an Essie polish before. Maybe it will be better.. who knows.. AND! For such a "dark" colour, it took three coats before it was even deciding to be opaque. In my mind, it is very similar to OPI Miami Beet .. I will have to compare.. I would much rather use Miami Beet if I want this particular shade on my mitts again. Dangit! THEN! I got my new set of Rainbow Honey's Chrono Cross Collection in the other week.. I was going to swatch them all and do a big review post, but I figure I will just use them and show you how I am actually wearing them, and then maybe

This Is Halloween: Ghosts

Hey everyone - just a quick post for the Halloween Challenge I am taking part in and a reminder of what the layout of the challenge is: Also, if you want to join in - just hop on to the next date!! I found this cute image of multiple cartoon ghosts.. so I just stole the facial expressions and went for it. I just painted a base of Orly White Out , then I did an outline of China Glaze Fairy Dust (which you cannot really see), the expressions were done with Orly Liquid Vinyl and a little tongue action with Essie Orange, It's Obvious!
