Grey Scaled Cheetah

Or Grey Scaled Leopard.. Who knows.. Something from the cat family.. I was sorting through my untried drawer (well, I have some polishes that are untried in a drawer along with some other nail art/polish supplies.. I don't have enough new stuff to need a whole drawer.. though that would be kind of neat.. and intimidating.. anyways!) and I saw that Essie Cocktail Bling was still hiding in there. Um, Dee, why? You love grey polish.. I obviously had to do something to remedy this non-usage of this grey bad boy. I used Essie Cocktail Bling , followed with some dots of China Glaze OMG and accenting/dots with my trusty China Glaze Liquid Leather (Orly Liquid Vinyl is hiding on me.. and it displeases me greatly!) and I also used a dotting tool that was sent to me from Born Pretty . I have to say.. Cocktail Bling is a very intriguing grey to me.. It is almost hints at a lilac-y colour in some lights.. And I am not a huge fan of lilacs, but as a colour, I like. And I feel somewha

Rainbow Snakeskin aka Rainbow Tire Prints

I know, the title is a little strange.. But stick with me, and I will explain. I really wanted to do something rainbow-esque the other day.. Yet my BM plate 215 was calling my name (aka the snakeskin pattern).. Then it suddenly hit me: sponge on a wealth of colours and use the pattern on top. YEX! (and I legitimately mean 'yex' - just say it in place of 'yes', believe me, it is fun!) What I had wanted to do was have my colours all sponged on top of a yellow base, then use grey and black layered stamping action.. Though when I tried the grey on my pinky, I hated it and just went with black. Now, it is sort of distressed in some places.. And at some points in time, it still looked like a snakeskin print to me.. Then, I was like 'no, this is something else.. but what?' THEN I thought of the obscure movie 'Rubber' and my nails resembled tire impressions.. Everything made sense to me for the rest of the day after that. I know, I'm strange. Moving on

Haute Nails

A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by an awesome lady named Jessica Taylor, and she asked me if I would be interested in doing a review of her product - nail polish strips! I then went on to check out her website and ask her which design she really liked - I knew instantly which strips I wanted, but I went for her suggestion anyways.. She mentioned the Maggie which was a really great suggestion as they were the strips I was most eying up! If there is one design I always fail miserably at replicating, it is houndstooth. Done! They arrived in the mail a few days ago - and I mean, come on, nail mail, of course I was excited!! The kit includes 20 nail strips in varying sizes, an orange stick/wooden stick, and a nail file. All for $10 - kind of an amazing deal in my opinion!! Now, of course I was too excited to put these bad boys on that I wasn't really thinking.. I had dishes and that to do.. And you all know my stance on wearing gloves.. Big mistake!! My other mistak

Konad Plate m84

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by Michelle at Nail Polish Canada - and she asked if I would be interested in reviewing a konad plate.. When I saw the photos of them, I knew immediately which plate I wanted.. m84 - the middle image was all I really saw: STARS! I love them.. And have a tremendously hard time actually paining them (oh, you'll see..) It showed up to me late last week, and I have been thinking a lot about it ever since. I had a bunch of non dish washing shifts this week, so I knew it would be the time to bust out that beautiful plate and test it out. Now, after my adventure with Half n Half nails, I wasn't quite ready to give them up.. So I went with half China Glaze Lemon Fizz and half China Glaze Sweet Hook . I liked them already.. Then I had to go in with my sub-par stamping 'skillz', but, believe it or not, this has netted me the most comments by people so far this year.. I also was impatient and have some dragged areas - but, the image it

Half n Half Nails

I have been loving this PHOTO  for a long time via tumblr, so when it showed up on some boards via pinterest, I knew I had to recreate it. Not going to lie: I love it!! Out of the numerous pink polish I own, I decided I wanted to try out Pink Friday from the OPI Nicki Minaj collection. At first, I hated it.. It looked really gross with my skin tone, and usually pink polish and myself are close to bff status, so I was a bit upset and was prepared to start over with a new pink.. But I told myself to suck it up and add some Turquoise & Caicos and move on with my evening.. It worked. I like them together - it makes me not hate that pink with my skin tone. Case closed. I already sort of mentioned what I used, but for safe measures: OPI Pink Friday , Essie Turquoise & Caicos , and Orly Liquid Vinyl . Speaking of pinterest, is it weird that I almost cried when I found people repining and liking photos from my blog ? And I mean cry tears of joy.. For whatever reason, I find i

Sort Of Valentine's Day Nails

I say 'sort of' as I feel these could just be worn whenever.. OR, if I wanted them to be really V-Day-ready, I could add some red, or some hearts, and then it would be fitting. I do apologize in advance.. I went off to work and forgot to take a photo in the morning.. So my hands and that are peel-y, and my nails don't look as nice.. What these started as were splatter nails.. I thought splatter V-Day-esque nails would be rad.. But I could not get the splatter action to work. I had some blobs of polish on my nails.. So instead of start over again, I quickly grabbed my nail are brush and went to work making random strokes with the brush here and there. And my verdict? Kind of awesome.. In fact, I really do like these bad boys. I know, the photo might not do them justice as they were beaten up at work, but trust me: they did look great at one point in time. I used OPIs: Mod About You, Kiss Me On My Tulips (still hilarious), Sparrow Me The Drama , as well as some Orly Whi

New Kids + Nail Fail

I wanted to make a quick post to show my new children off.. I picked up 6 babies the other day.. Kind of excited to introduce them! Plus, yesterday was the worst day I have had in nail painting in a long, long time. Nothing worked for me. Today was better, but these will be posted up closer to Valentine's Day.. Anyways, moving on! Yay! New kids!! Here we have OPI: I Don't Give A Rotterdam, I Have A Herring Problem, Kiss Me On My Tulips (side note: I have to stifle hysterical laughter every time I see this name.. I seriously have the maturity level of a 15 year old boy. I love it!), and A Roll In The Hague. Then we have China Glaze: Gaga For Green and Techo. I knew I wanted to do something with IDGAR and IHAHP immediately.. Mostly to prove my dad wrong.. He said they are the same colour. They are not. But.. My idea failed.. I think the next time I want to use striping tape, I will size them before hand so they fit perfectly.. Even with tiny sewing scissors.. I couldn't

Domo Nails + Goodies

I am actually really excited to share this mani with everyone.. I alluded to it a bit last week. I didn't know what to do with my nails and had sent a message to my sister asking what I should do - she quickly messaged me back saying 'DOMO!!!!' while I was sending a text about the base colour I was wearing. I said I would do them next week (aka now) and I actually stayed true to my word. I know I have seen these gems done over on The Daily Nail and I saw a photo floating around on tumblr where the girl alternated between Domo and dots.. So I decided to do a bit of both. I like Domo and I like dots.. Ahh yes, an accent nail: done! I love these.. Yet when I scope the photo.. I'm like 'ew, the teeth! ew, this, ew, that!' but in reality I think they look fine irl.. AND I did get a wealth of compliments when I was at Sally's today.. So I figure my photo-critical mind is just a jerk. End of story. I used OPI Over The Taupe as a base, then I used Essie Lol
