Gloomy, yet fun floral nails

I was going through the blogs on my blogroll yesterday.. err.. two days ago now? And was reading a post over on Kayla's about her reaching 1,000,000 page views (which is amazing - congrats!) and how she is having a little bit of a nail art contest.. The theme is 'floral', and I figured I hadn't done floral nails in awhile - and this was a good excuse to do so!

I'm not even going to lie.. I absolutely love what I did here.. I'm kind of obsessed with my nails right now. I'm not even embarrassed to admit that. I want to go out and show these off.. Awkweird? I don't think so!

I immediately knew I wanted to do something with a grey base for two reasons: one being that it has to be "gloomy" to get flowers to eventually bloom (I am going a bit poetic here..) and secondly, I remembered this post and how much I loved grey and pink together..

After I had the grey and pink dots.. I figured I wanted to go with yellow "flowers".. Rad.. Then I had white to add the floral-y/rose-ish accents.. But I looked at the pink polish again and thought 'why not?!' - I'm glad I did! It really made them pop! Then I did the leaves.. Cool-cool-cool.. But I felt that there was too much "dead space" and my white polish was still sitting in front of me, unused.. Ahh yes, little white dots..

I know there is a lot of activity going on.. But I am seriously in love with these nails of mine.. I'm hoping that they don't chip for another day or two.. I'm going to put off any serious chores til at least Monday (:

I hope everyone is having a great day/afternoon/evening/night and I will be back again with another post soon!!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
