Lush Lacquer Birthday Cake

Today I have a little "swatch" to share with you all.. That and at least it is something to post - right?

I have been on a bit of an 'indie polish' kick lately.. I haven't even been paying any attention to.. name brands? lately.. I have a wealth of new babies coming soon.. So I figure I should actually start sharing them!

I ordered from Lush Lacquer mostly because of my birthday group - July's lady said she doesn't own any indie polish, so I scoured Etsy, looking at so many pretty polish.. Then I stumbled on Lush Lacquer.. Awesome! I ordered a couple of me and a couple for her.. And now I am going to share one of the couple with all of you!

This polish actually does remind me of those "funfetti" kind of cakes.. I love it! This was also just two cots of the polish - I didn't even put a base. I figure though, if I did put some white underneath, it might make the polish pop more - but I feel like it does a great job all on its own..

You can check out more of the awesome polish at lushlacquer.etsy.com - and their shipping to Canada is very reasonable!

And remember you still have a little bit longer to enter my Sticks 'n Stones giveaway! I am off to the lake after work today - I hope everyone has awesome plans for the weekend as well.. Or at least enjoys themselves (:

Talk to you all again soon!!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
