28 Day Challenge

Is what I will be starting tomorrow.

I have been on a bit of a no-buy lately.. For those of you that don't know what that means, it basically means I am not buying nail polish for a certain amount of time. Though I should say I haven't been buying nail polish for myself.. I still have birthday group people to buy for!! Surprisingly enough, I have done really well. I think I will be getting close to a whole month soon! I am planning to hold out until late September.. Fingers crossed!

ANYWAYS! I didn't go on this no-buy by myself. In fact, I didn't even plan to do this. My amazing pal Silver said she wanted to go on a no-buy before her trip to Las Vegas.. Then she mentioned about all the untried polish she has.. And how she would like to do a bit of a challenge to use these untrieds up once she gets home.. Which she will be home tomorrow - aka our start date!

Her set up is going to be a bit different.. I believe she is going to be featuring a specific brand of nail polish each week. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don't have any brands where I have 7 to use.. I actually thought I really didn't even have that many untried to use.. ahem..

See.. I figured I would keep them all in this bag and be able to dip my hand in and do a random draw.. As you can see.. Um, there is no space to just dip my mitt in there.. whoops! I have WAY more untried polish than I thought. This is awkward..

SO! For the next 28 days, expect to see a "new" polish used everyday! Most of the time there will be no nail art activity.. Just a lot of swatch activity.. I still have a full time job and school to keep me exceptionally busy, but that isn't going to stop me!

Enjoy this.. journey with Silver and I! AND! As I said, we are starting tomorrow.. If you feel like joining in - leave me a comment so I can link to your blog/posts as well! That would be a lot of fun! Otherwise, you'll be seeing a lot from me friends (:

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
