Gold Fingers

..Sort of?

I saw this post on Chalkboard Nails (I was linked there by my pal Silverinator), and I knew I had to get my mitts on that top coat. I am really, really thankful for my birthday group (more on the lovely people in that group soon!) right meow, because I was able to use an address of one of the members (thankies Ro!!), then she sent it onwards to me. It sort of sounds like a bit of work - but I'm going to say it was completely worth the work! Most of which I didn't have to do.. Just had to do the paying (:

On chalkboard nails, she used a turquoise base, and I thought it looked stunning.. But she also said it looked badass when used over black.. No brainer!! I used Orly Liquid Vinyl and Essie Turquoise & Caicos followed with some Gold Leaf top coat.

I. Really. Love. This.

It is beyond simple, but that gold top coat takes it just a smidge on the edgy side, and I think it looks 'badass'.

There is a link to an e-mail address to get in to contact with the creator of this top coat.. I am not entirely sure if she still has some available - but if you're a person that just wants your polish to go one step further, you should really try to get your hands on this! And the bottle sticker is kind of amazing also.

I actually received more fun nail mail to play with.. AND.. I may have started to get goodies for a giveaway.. I see I am getting MIGHTY close to 400.. SAY WHAT?!

Well, that is all for now - take care until next time!

My A England Stash

As I have mentioned in some of my recent posts, I'm a sucker for Butter London nail polish.. (well, ok, who am I kidding - any nail polish, but, in particular, I have been loving me some BL lately!) - BUT - I have acquired a few A England's in the last month.. And I am smitten!

First, I will show you Guinevere, which is a part of The Mythicals collection.. I will admit, this wasn't a polish I would have actually chosen on my own.. I'd be like 'oh, a nice light purple/lilac shade.. next!', BUT, I saw this used on The Nailasaurus' blog a little while back and passed out. It was so stunning! That is a serious problem for me and my obsession with nail polish. One swatch, and it is game over. It is listed at the a england  website as being "beautiful, elegant, antique, pale mauve, the newest neutral shade; already a classic" Uh, yeah. This was two coats with some seche vite top coat.

Next up, Ascalon... which is a part of The Legend collection.. This was a last minute impulse/toss in to my cart before I check out type of purchase.. Glad I did! The site says: "Forged by magic and guided by our hero's sainted hand, the steely grey of his spire is alive with a swirling heart of lavender fire." I know you probably cannot see the hints of lavender in this gem - but trust me, it is there! I think this one will be amazing for stamping! This was two coats and no top coat.

Ohhh Lady Of The Lake.. which is a part of The Mythicals collection.. I have seen so many photos of this gem that it was a no brainer. I envision some type of gradient with Ascalon and Guinevere in its near future. The site says: "dusky purple with rainbow glimmer and glow". Agreed. Gorgeous! This was two coats, no top coat!

I ordered Guinevere, Ascalon, and Lady Of The Lake via the early access sale at Nail Polish Canada - they actually almost sold out within the first 24 hours just from the early access sale - which I'd say is pretty rad!

Now we have Dragon.. which is a part of The Legend collection.. I look at this photo and I can honestly hear a hallelujah choir.. It was a lemming of mine.. And to now have it with me? Amazing. I am seriously in love with this bad boy here. The site says: "Like sunlight glinting off his iridescent mossy green scales, the fearsome Dragon lays basking arrogantly, awaiting his due." I kind of love their descriptions - just saying! Hey.. Does anyone know what this would look awesome in... (: - again, two coats, zero top coat.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Saint George.. which is also a part of The Legend collection.. So. Freaking. Pretty! The site says: "Bearer of a valiant & courageous heart, this fathomless teal reveals the strength of the brave knight's convictions with his gleaming, fiery core." This was two coats with no top coat.

I bought Dragon and Saint George from Ninja Polish a little while back.. And haven't shown you all til now.. So rude of me to keep these lovelies to myself!

I can honestly say I am completely overjoyed with every single one of these a england (I never know if I should capitalize the letters or not - I see it done both ways.. ???) polish. Again, if you're like I was, just sitting back, looking/drooling over photos of these gems - do yourself a favor and order one or two - then you'll quickly be ordering three, four, and more. I am looking forward to getting some more myself! Also, these polish have some serious shine to them! I didn't even have to use top coat for shine purposes.. BUT.. I mean, to protect them, I would, of course!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day! I will see you all soon with some other goodies soon!! Take care til then!

Cocktail Manicure

A little while back, I viewed a post on Rebecca's blog about the China Glaze cocktail manicure, I loved the idea! I looked through the shades that they had listed.. And I had either one or the other, but not both.. Except for the "Manhattan" - I happen to own both colours needed! Awe YEAH! It says to paint your left hand with the one polish, and then your right hand, or cocktail hand, has the other polish applied to three of the fingers. I obviously had a DERP moment when painting my nails.. I should have reversed, as I hold my drinks in my left hand.. Thus that should have had the fun time colour. Next time..

So, since this was something a bit different, I took my photos a bit differently.. With the help of my sister!

I used China Glaze Make Some Noise and China Glaze Electrify.. I was enjoying some "Orange Dream" blended beverages with my sister.. And this is how they make me feel..

Yup, you guys get to witness the classic 'Delainie' look..

I hope everyone is having a tremendous weekend! I will be back with some swatches this week or a new to me brand (aka I have recently started acquiring them, and I kind of think they are amazing) - so be on the look out for that!

Neon Gradient.. Splattered!

I got the idea for this gradient mani with splatter activity over HERE - I originally wanted to copy her awesome colour choices, but then I glanced over and saw my newly beloved neon polish blaring at my retinas, and I knew what I had to do.

I started with a coat of Orly White Out as a base for my neons.. Then I think I used 3-4 thin coats of Essie Action, and waited for that all to dry. Then I just sponged on some Essie Lights.. THEN I globbed some Orly White Out on my ever-handy paper, dipped my trusty straw in and attempted to splatter up my nails. I still haven't mastered this technique, but I will. It is my new life mission. I may or may not be joking.

I'm going to say that this orange is absolutely AH-MAY-ZING! It is exceptionally bright.. I actually got some nail mail earlier.. And that had a neon polish within it.. and it is searingly gorgeous. I cannot wait to share that sweet gem with you all!

I hope everyone is having a great Friday! I will be back with something for all of you again very soon!!

Floral Nail Tutorial

I have to preface this post with a few apologies.. Apology 1: I did film this as a video originally, but when I reviewed it, I didn't quite get in close enough so that it could be seen what I was doing - but I was still going to post it up. Apology 2: My computer has been acting strange lately. I used to be able to leave it on for days on end, now it likes to shut off at random. Random being when I was trying to upload to youtube last night. I honestly didn't want to try and do it again - it said it would take 500 minutes.. Ugh. Apology 3: I decided to take photos as I went along working on these nails.. And while I was taking the photos, they looked AWESOME on the camera.. When I uploaded and edited them.. Ehh.. not so much..

Apology 4: I am sorry about the quality of this tutorial, but hopefully you'll be able to understand what I'm trying to show.. My next tutorial (whenever that is..) will be filmed, in focus, and should upload properly. Fingers crossed?

Anyways, the nails that I am giving you a tutorial on are the floral gems I posted up a little while back.

The polish I used are: Butter London Lady Muck, OPI Shorts Story, Joe Butter, NYC Lexington Yellow, OPI Jade Is The New Black, OPI Who The Shrek Are You?, and Orly White Out.

I hope this might be useful to someone.. AND! If you decide to do something similar, I would love to see what you have done! Feel free to link me a photo, or e-mail me one! Thanks for taking a glance - and have an awesome day!

Lights, Camera? Pirouette My Whistle!

Lights, yes, Camera? Nah.. Well, I took the photos with a camera.. Technically? And Pirouette My Whistle.. Yeah. I honestly am the most loser-y person I know most days.. Moving on..

I picked Essie Lights the other day and was EXTREMELY excited about it.. It just looked so jazzed up and amazing in the bottle.. And I'm on a strange kick/fascination with all things neon lately.. It lived up to my expectations.

During that same shopping trip, I grabbed a couple of polish from the OPI Ballet collection.. Even though I wasn't too thrilled by the whole collection, seeing these two gems in person made me really, really want them! One of the pair that I nabbed is Piroutte My Whistle.

I had been playing with some nail wheels.. And had PMW over Lights.. And immediately I took off what I was sporting and slapped these gems on. It was basically like having heaven on display on my nails for a few days. Yeah, these two together made me THAT happy.

Ahh yes.. and looking at these photos - this was also the day I clipped down my nails again. I just love me some short nails! I apologize for not including my index finger in the shot.. I clipped it out.. That finger was covered in green nail polish.. I was working on something (:

This was actually Essie Lights over Orly White Out (I prefer to put neons on over a base of white.. I feel it makes them look more awesome and opaque!), then a coat of OPI Pirouette My Whistle. I seriously love this and almost want to just do this again. Actually, maybe it will be my next pedicure!

That is all for today - see you all again real soon!

Just Spotted The Lizard

Okay, now, I will admit.. I'm not a huge Spiderman fan.. I have actually never watched a single movie within the whole spectrum of the Spiderman franchise.. And I honestly don't think I will watch the new one that is about to be released either - even though it stars my "girl crush" Emma Stone.. Anyways..

OPI has released a line of nail polish based around the movie.. I was basically like 'meh', BUT.. One polish out of the collection I knew I wanted. Badly.

That polish is Just Spotted The Lizard:

Just looking at the bottle - you see a wealth of activity going on.. And that is exactly how it is on the nail.. Move your nails around in the light - fun times!

I bet this would look rad in a snakeskin mani.. Why must I always go there?

This is one of those rare polish that I would actually wear on its own. And I did.

That is all for today.. I will be back soon with another post - and a video tutorial for my floral mani that I am still madly in love with.

Gloomy, yet fun floral nails

I was going through the blogs on my blogroll yesterday.. err.. two days ago now? And was reading a post over on Kayla's about her reaching 1,000,000 page views (which is amazing - congrats!) and how she is having a little bit of a nail art contest.. The theme is 'floral', and I figured I hadn't done floral nails in awhile - and this was a good excuse to do so!

I'm not even going to lie.. I absolutely love what I did here.. I'm kind of obsessed with my nails right now. I'm not even embarrassed to admit that. I want to go out and show these off.. Awkweird? I don't think so!

I immediately knew I wanted to do something with a grey base for two reasons: one being that it has to be "gloomy" to get flowers to eventually bloom (I am going a bit poetic here..) and secondly, I remembered this post and how much I loved grey and pink together..

After I had the grey and pink dots.. I figured I wanted to go with yellow "flowers".. Rad.. Then I had white to add the floral-y/rose-ish accents.. But I looked at the pink polish again and thought 'why not?!' - I'm glad I did! It really made them pop! Then I did the leaves.. Cool-cool-cool.. But I felt that there was too much "dead space" and my white polish was still sitting in front of me, unused.. Ahh yes, little white dots..

I know there is a lot of activity going on.. But I am seriously in love with these nails of mine.. I'm hoping that they don't chip for another day or two.. I'm going to put off any serious chores til at least Monday (:

I hope everyone is having a great day/afternoon/evening/night and I will be back again with another post soon!!

Toxic Gradient

Gradient/ombre nails seem to be all the rage right now.. So of course I had to hop aboard that band wagon. I began my quest by following the tutorial HERE, but it just wasn't as rad as I thought.. So then I just used the classic sponge technique with just my green polish to the tips of the nails.

I know a lot of people will say this about looks they post up, myself included, but this photo does this absolutely no justice! This was blindingly bright irl and more gradient-y, but still looks kind of rad.

Also, because it didn't quite flow the way I had envisioned it to, I decided that slapping on a fun-time effect would be even better. It was.

I used NYC Lexington Yellow, Illamasqua Radium, and Essie Luxeffects Shine Of The Times. You'll be able to see bottle shots of them gems (well, the NYC and ILLAMASQUAAAAAAA later on when I can post my birthday group post..)

Yeah. That's right! I am now the proud owner of an Illasmasqua nail polish.. And it nearly brings me to tears just thinking about it. I obviously need to have more now. Being obsessed with nail polish is never a pretty thing (ok, total lie, it is exceptionally pretty when the polish is worn, not so much when you're obsessing about the polish getting to your hands/fingertips)

I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday.. Back to studying for me. Bleh.

See you again soon!!
