Colourful Plaid Tutorial

Hello everyone! As promised, I bring you the photo tutorial for my colourful plaid nails.. I apologize in advance.. while taking the photos, I only snapped ONE photo of each step. I never only photograph my nails once.. so I have no idea why I thought one photo of every step would suffice. I FAIL! But. Despite some of the fuzziness of the photos, I think you will all be able to understand what to do. Shall we?   Just a reminder of what we are doing.. You don't have to use the exact same colours I used.. You can use any colours you have on hand, or colours that you love having together. I knew that I wanted to use the blue and pink from Pop Art and decided to go with another bright and contrasting colour, which is why I chose yellow. I also added the black and white as colours that sort of tie the whole look together. For even more fun, just use all different colours rather than play it safe with shades. Start with your base colour. I used the blue side fr

Colourful Plaid featuring Revlon Pop Art

Hello everyone! Today I bring you some colourful plaid nails.. inspired by.. myself!! Ok, well, actually, my BFF first inspired it by talking about plaid nails a few weeks back.. Then I picked up Revlon Pop Art and thought 'this could look great for plaid nails!' and I then I thought of the plaid nails I did ' back in the day '... and then this was born... reborn? Products Used Nail Life Gripper (base coat) Revlon Pop Art (blue) Zoya Pippa (yellow) Revlon Pop Art (pink) Orly Liquid Vinyl (black) Orly White Out Cult Nails Wicked Fast (top coat) I really love these. Again, I feel the lines look a little wonky in these photos, though I can't not smile while looking at them. My only minor complaint.. the blue from Pop Art completely stained my nails! Like, really badly. I know that some times when I read that on a blog, I go 'well, I have that particular polish, and it has never stained my nails!', this could very well be one of thos

Chanel Malice

Hey everyone! Today is just a "swatch" post. A couple of weeks back.. I had to make a rather difficult decision to have one of my pet rabbit's put to sleep. It was an awful day, and an awful experience (though the vet and his assistant were absolutely lovely people - so their decency was very appreciated). She would have been 10 years old in March. It hurt even more because she was born in this house, and now.. she is no longer around.. There is just her brother left from the group of five babies, and, well, there is Bennie, but he doesn't count for anything *grin* The next day, while scoping out things on the internet.. I came across a site that was selling Chanel Malice.. A colour that I have been wanting ever since seeing a swatch of it.. But I had held off.. until the day after my sweet baby girl's death.. In a moment of absolute weakness, I ordered the polish. When it arrived, it was a bittersweet moment. Here was a polish that I desperately want

Colourful Geo Print

Hello everyone!! Today I bring you a "Dee copy" of THIS POST . I have enjoyed looking at this gem for awhile via pinterest.. it was finally time to do it for myself. I personally love everything about it and am happy I took the time to do it - though I like her offset style more.. win/lose/win? Anyways.. Products Used: Nail Life Gripper (base coat) OPI Skull & Glossbones (nude) China Glaze Rich & Famous (pink) Color Club Shabby Drab (purple) Essie Mojito Madness (green) Nails Inc. Baker Street (blue) Cult Nails Wicked Fast (top coat) I also used my little nail art brush to do the lines.. Some of my lines are terrible.. it reminded me that I have to do more nail art.. Why does that make me smile? Have a fantastic Friday everyone!! See you again soon!!

With A K & We Sisters Three

Hello everyone!! Today I bring you a post using two of my longest sitting untried polish.. Yeah, pretty sad. BUT! In my defense, for whatever reason, I moved everything out of my untried drawer.. even if they weren't tried.. which means that these were amongst all my "used" polish, thus making me believe I had tested them out. Awkward. Anyways.. They are polish from Elixir Lacquers, and they are beautiful. I couldn't decide which to use.. so.. I just alternated every nail.. I even tossed in a photo of my right hand.. as it is the only "in focus" photo. My camera and these beauties did not get along at all! It might be hard to really see here, but my pal thought I had put dots on my nails also.. I told her I hadn't, it was all built in to the nail polish. Holgraphic-y, dotty, magicalness.. just real beauties! Now I'm scared to check out the rest of the wares from that line.. oh - and removing the polish was a breeze too.. as I'm

Scuppered & Jaffa

Hey everyone! Today I bring you a post where I should have just left my polish as two separates.. but.. in my mind, I felt like they would go together so well.. and maybe if I did it the opposite way, it would have worked.. who knows.. maybe I will test out that theory some day.. but today, you get this. I'm sorry? Again, both of these polish, while on their own, or maybe reversed, would be awwwwesome.. but the way I paired them = not so lovely. Scuppered is amazing though. I ordered the set thinking Jack The Lad was the polish I was most excited to use. Then, after careful consideration, I was like 'hmm nope, I need to use Scuppered'. Notice the green and fuchsia activity? In a bronze base? FAB! That is my fail for the week.. I promise my other posts (that are planned, thus far) are good!! Take care until then!!

Dove & Fully Turqued

Hello everyone!! Today I bring you two polish that I am insanely excited to share! Plus x 2: I think this pairing is brilliant and the names of these polish are genius! I will start off with sharing why the polish names are genius. Zoya Dove.. I use 'dove' as a term of endearment for pretty much everyone. I call people 'my dove' or 'my sweet, baby dove', and it seems to make people smile. I adore it. And I (heart) NP Fully Turqued. Okay, I know it is a play on the added turquoise activity in the polish, but it is also a play on being fully torqued aka a line from one of my favourite shows: Workaholics. (I actually discussed it with the creator of I (heart) NP - and that is exactly where she got it from! Yes!) Enough explanation.. photo time! Again, I apologize for the dry shape of my mitts. Stupid *insert whatever I am lacking in my life*. Anyways, this was three coats of Zoya Dove (which was sent in my Private Pumpkin exchange from the wonde

Baker Street, Spark, & Dots

Hello everyone! I am going to start off by saying I haven't been this "surprised" by a nail polish in a looong time. By surprise, I mean, I sort of picked this polish up on a whim and I will be forever happy that I did. I am talking about Nails Inc. Baker Street. Now, I know I should have picked it up when it was first released.. I mean, it is called Baker Street, and I have been obsessed with Sherlock Holmes since we started watching 'The Great Mouse Detective' as children. Then the newer films, and the television shows - it is basically heavenly to me. Annnyways.. I never thought much of it despite how in love with it people were. I was like 'I love blue nail polish, but, meh, I am sure I will survive without it.' Wrong. Maybe these photos won't do it justice.. I'm not sure, but it still looks magical to me. I had planned to alternate every finger (blue, yellow, blue, etc) but as soon as the first dollop of blue polish hit my pi

January Polish Days - Try Something New!

Hey everyone!! Something a little different to bring to you today.. I came across this 'Polish Days' monthly themed blog participation.. ehm.. thing, and thought that it sounded fun! I had a really long time to figure out a new technique to try, but of course, I'm a master at procrastination and left everything to the very last minute. Of course, at the last minute, I'm busy.. but I did need to paint my nails for work the next day (aka today).. SO! I figured if I paint my nails with an untried polish, that counts as something new (it even says in the description for the month that you can just use an untried polish).. I stay within the rules AND get to test out a new polish.. And that polish is.. Deborah Lippmann Let's Go Crazy So, let's! This is 'Happy Birthday' in a fun grape jelly base.. and I really, really like it! This is two coats.. it dried super quick, I'm happy with it.. All in all, I'd say it is a winner. My last

Ikat Nails: Take 2

Hey everyone!! I decided to go Ikat nails as soon as possible in the new year, and today is the day to share them with you!! I like this go muchos better than my first go , and, I did this one using two of the new polish gems that my BFF bought me for Christmas!! I am not overly crazy about the thumb, but I still don't dis like it. In fact, I absolutely love them as a whole. Started with two coats of China Glaze Def Defying - that is just a marvelous bright green, then, I added some white blobs using Orly White Out (side note: I didn't wait long enough for Def Defying to dry, because I'm impatient, so the white took on a yellow-ish tinge that I think I love more than having it had been a stark white contrast!), then I used some China Glaze Creative Fantasy (love), and China Glaze Liquid Leather . Ikat nails are extremely simple to do, yet they do pack quite the punch in appearance. I have a feeling you'll see this pattern another time or three through

Something To Check Out

Hey everyone! I have been all about indie polish for just about a solid year now. They are unique, fun, and manufactured by ladies (and gents!) who are polish fans just like myself and wanted something different.. What isn't to like? I was contacted by Laura who is trying to make her dream come true and be able to work full-time on her own product line. She is looking to kick start is all by raising $1,000 so she can produce some new products. She has some really great incentives for different price points - plus, you have the chance to give some cash and, not only help her achieve her goal, but get some awesome indie products out of the deal! Again, what isn't to like? You can go scope out the full story HERE Also, it isn't always monetary values that help out - even just spreading the word around will help! I thought the whole thing sounds great and she is quite a lovely person (from our minor chats - you know how first impressions go!!) I figured I could dire

Turquoise & Caicos + Sugar High

Hey everyone! Today I bring you a very simple mani, but it packs a bit of a story. Story first. I am really bad with gift giving. Ok, wait, that sounds bad. I like giving gifts, but I like being told what they want. I would hate to give something that someone would just be like "really? this is awful." (side note: I don't think anyone I would ever give a gift to would be that much of a jerk, but you never know, right?) Anyways. I like to be given an idea.. Or I have to hope that they are the type of pal that just points out random awesome items and is like 'I want that'.. off topic, again. SO! Cue my BFF and I discussing gifts via bbm. I just flat out ask "what do you want?" and she said she wanted a recipe box. Didn't matter what it looked like, she just wanted one that wasn't for the smallest index cards. RAD! I took to the internet immediately and SCOURED it for recipe boxes. Of course I found some stellar options via etsy. And o

Casino Royale + My Own Gold Leaf Top Coat

Hey everyone! I am bringing you my first official "new" post of 2013! It still seems very strange to actually write 2013.. I kind of like it though.. anyways! Just a really quick post with no nail art activity.. Just sharing two cool polish. One of which I maaaaade! I started off with OPI Casino Royale, which, I am not sure if my top coat of the gold kind of altered the shade a bit.. it seems more red-toned in these photos, but it is a beautiful polish no matter what! I think this is what I wanted Essie Bahama Mama to be.. Then I decided to add my own gold leaf top coat. I just tweeze-d (super scientific method) a part pieces of gold leaf and added them to a suspension base.. but still! I made this! And I think it is lovely! And it wasn't very fun to make! I am really excited about the nail that I am planning to do tonight. I've had this photo saved for awhile now and I feel like today is the day to do them. I just have to clean my make-up brushes first..

My Top 13 Manis of 2012

Hey everyone! Last year I posted my top 12 manis of 2011, so, I figured this year I get to pick my top 13 of 2012. Now, these are what I consider my own personal top looks. If you disagree, you should post up one of my posts from the last year in the comments section. Without further ado & in no particular order.. Yes, it is basically just a special top coat, but it is seriously magical! I absolutely love it.. Read all about it HERE I love this.. and the title I gave the post.. Oh The Weather Outside Is Weather .. Again, it may just be a top coat kind of polish, but it is a-may-za-zing! Check out the post HERE If I had to actually choose one mani that was my absolute favourite of the year.. This would be it. Check out the full post HERE Pinterest is one of my favourite places to find nail art (inspiration and straight up copies) - which is where the idea for this gem came from. Check out the post HERE This was an adorable mani inspired from another blogger
