Turquoise & Caicos + Sugar High

Hey everyone!

Today I bring you a very simple mani, but it packs a bit of a story.

Story first.

I am really bad with gift giving. Ok, wait, that sounds bad. I like giving gifts, but I like being told what they want. I would hate to give something that someone would just be like "really? this is awful." (side note: I don't think anyone I would ever give a gift to would be that much of a jerk, but you never know, right?)

Anyways.

I like to be given an idea.. Or I have to hope that they are the type of pal that just points out random awesome items and is like 'I want that'.. off topic, again.

SO!

Cue my BFF and I discussing gifts via bbm. I just flat out ask "what do you want?" and she said she wanted a recipe box. Didn't matter what it looked like, she just wanted one that wasn't for the smallest index cards. RAD! I took to the internet immediately and SCOURED it for recipe boxes. Of course I found some stellar options via etsy. And of course they don't ship to Canada. And those that would.. well, it would cost me double just to pay for shipping. Not to say my BFF isn't worth it: she totally is. But that much $$ on shipping is deplorable.

I decided to make one. Sort of. I figured I could find a box and paint it. I did find a solid wooden box.. but it was sort of boring. I bought some wood trim to add around the whole thing. Then what to paint it? I found two colours that I loved together.. but how would I put them together?

Dots. The colours (to me) scream my BFF.. and dots are my thing. I didn't get to explain this to her, so now she can read it (side note: Hi Gord!) I figure it is a solid mix of her and I. Because it is for her, but I did still want it to represent me. I think it worked.

Afterwards, she said 'you should do your nails like this!'

Did and done, pal.

Simple. Effective. I really like this combo.

It is 2-3 (on some nails) coats of Essie Turquoise & Caicos followed up with some dotting action using China Glaze Sugar High.

I completely forgot how fabulous simple contrasting dot nails can be. I got muchos compliments on this combo.. Reminder to self: more dots.

Have a great day everyone - see you again soon!!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Revlon Giveaway

GIVEAWAY CLOSED! WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!! Yaaaay! I am really excited to do this for all of you! I really appreciate all of you following me and commenting on my posts - it is amazing! So, I figured it was time to give back a bit. Now, this isn't a monster giveaway that I want to do - that will come sometime later. I have it all planned in my mind - BUT - until then, you'll have to put up with this! I picked up 3 polishes from the new Revlon collection the other day and really wanted to grab extras to giveaway, but the store was sold out of one of the colours after I bought it, and so, that thought was quickly squashed. Then, this evening, I ran in to another shop quickly - and they had a whole wealth of them - bingo! Giveaway time! The colours are: Starry Pink, Blue Mosaic & Facets of Fuchsia Supposedly FoF is a DL Bad Romance dupe. Sadly, I do not own that polish (I really, really wish I did) - but this polish is stunning - in fact, they all are! Thi
