Pirate Polish Sea Monster

Hello everyone!

If you scoped out my post from yesterday, you would have seen a lovely bottle shot of Pirate Polish Sea Monster.. And today.. You get to see it in action!

It is glorious.

Seriously.

Seriouslyyyyyyyyyy!!! Look at this absolute beauty! This is 2 coats of Sea Monster over a coat of China Glaze Liquid Leather.

"Sea Monster is a mixture of different sizes of vibrant turquoise and holographic glitters in a glossy clear base, including large blue-green holographic hexagonal glitters and large square silver holographic glitter."

The chunks of square and hexagonal glitter really sell the whole thing for me. You know what - the whole polish just sells the whole thing for me. Honestly. Beautiful!

You should probably scuttle over to Tara's shop and snap up a bottle for yourself right meow.. because anyone looking at this will obviously need to add this to their collection asap.

I hope everyone is having a great day - see you again soon!!

Haul For The Week Of July 21-28 - Pic Heavy

Hey everyone..

I know last week, when I first mentioned the whole Swatch Sunday/Haul posts, I said to not expect them every week.. But.. um.. Well, this week is going to be a write-off. I bought a wealth of polish (ok, some of them were purchased the previous week, but just arrived to me.. you know what I mean!)

Where to start.. We will start with Wednesdays goodies. My friend Jazz had contacted Tara of Pirate Polish and was like 'I'm going to be picking up two polish from her after work today...' Of course I had to get in on the action! I knew I had a wealth coming to me.. but these two polish that Jazz was going to pick up, I needed to have them. I quickly sent a text off to Tara to let her know to have another pair ready for me. I am forever grateful for my lack of will power.

Mother. Of. God. Seriously! LOOK AT THESE GEMS! I may or may not have it on direct authority that a post featuring Sea Monster will be up on Monday. Just saying.

This is obviously Mint Milkshake and Sea Monster. Siiiiigh. There really are no words.

Oh, and Tara is awesome. I know how to say that.

Then, on Thursday, I came home to two packages.. One from.. Rainbow Honey Cosmetics and one from Nail Polish Canada. I will start with my RHC order - only because it is larger.. Yeah.. That's why!

First off.. the packaging.. really?! Stunning! Also, I wanted to make a note of this (and clearly prove to all of you how crazy I am) - but, you know how 'nail mail' usually sort of has a nail polish-y smell? The whole package smelled like bubble gum. I was kind of obsessed with that fact. Yes, I'm very strange.

So. I ordered the Summer of 199X Part II "Rainbow Honey presents its newest collection, Summer of 199X featuring 10 new colors inspired by the 1995 SNES hit, Earthbound." I didn't play that particular game.. but now I'm kind of crushed that I didn't. At least I have these gems in my collection.

On top of the collection, which consists of Magic Cake, Mint Flavor, Apple Kid, Tessie, and I Miss You - I decided to wait 1 hour before putting in my order because a limited edition polish was going to become available.. and it looked magical.. So I waited the hour, promptly put Special World in to my cart, along with Summer Juice & Vanilla Dreams Cuticle Balm and ran off to pay... Ohhhhh but wait.. Because I spent $50+, I got to add Summer Blossom in for free. Awesome! Then, when I opened the package, a mini vial of The Kracken was included (which is a polish in Part I of the 199X collection - rad!).

I am honestly beyond excited to get these all swatched up and play with them. Magic Cake and Mint Flavor are just screaming my name right now while working on this post.

Now I just have some bottle shots of them for you all..

Last, but definitely not least, my NPC order.

Here we have China Glaze Bottoms Up & Highlight of My Summer (look at the perfect minty shade!!!!! !!!!), and Essie In The Cab-Ana (I'm less crazy about this colour now that I have it in my possession - must swatch - the photo makes me think of China Glaze For Audrey aka the bane of existence).

I also used some of my points and picked up OPI Gargantuan Green Grape (more on this in a moment..) and a england Jane Eyre. I also decided to splurge and get piCture pOlish Cosmos as well. I have wanted it for awhile.. That is my justification!

What the freak is this?! According to both bottles, it is OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. See, when I saw it listed as an available polish to use my points on, I thought 'great! my other bottle is on its last legs, and I adore that polish - might as well replace it'. Did they change the formulation of it?! I'm so saaaad! Like, gutted. Sure, the one on the left isn't a bad colour (I showed my sister, I am using her wording), but they are not the same. Siiiiigh.

So. Yup. I went a little polish crazy. I don't need to buy any more for a long while. I'm also now over 500 bottles. Yiiiiikes. (Not really, I'm quite pleased with this.. To be completely honest).

I hope you enjoyed ogling my new goodies - see you all again soon with another post!!

Mimosa's Before Mani's Under The Boardwalk

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you two previously untried polish of mine.. and two polish that I think are nothing short of exquisite after using them.

I paired China Glaze Mimosa's Before Mani's with Joyful Noise Cosmetics Under The Boardwalk - separately, I adore both, but together, they are kind of amazing. You'll have to scope and see what I mean. Though I ask of you to please forgive my cuticles. I have been a cuticle cutter for the last.. year? I have now decided to stop clipping/picking at them all the time and just leave them as is. It is going to be a bit of a process, I know.

Mimosa's Before Mani's is a peach-meets-coral colour infused with gold shimmer.. So, basically it is drool-worthy. The first coat was a little iffy, but the second coat evened everything out. It was gorgeous all on its own, but I knew I had to jazz it up some more.

Under The Boardwalk is jam packed with glittery goodness! Various sizes, shapes, colours, even some bar glitter - be still my heart! You can pick that gem up HERE.

I feel this is a perfect summer mani. Simple, yet it definitely packs a punch. I am in serious like with my nails as of right now.

I hope you're all having a great day - and I shall see you again soon!

The Waterfall Nails

Hey everyone!

I'm sure most all of you follow The Nailasaurus' blog and all of the wonderful manis she posts. If so, then you're more than familiar with the waterfall mani that she has been doing. She put up this TUTORIAL and I figured it was time to do it for myself.

I received many compliments on this.. and I really quite like the whole look. Though mine is a little rough looking, it is still pretty great!

I used a base of China Glaze White on White, then did some line work with China Glaze Liquid Leather, OPI No Room For The Blues, Orly Glitz, and Ninja Polish Hanukkah Floam. Then it was all topped off with Seche Vite.

I spaced some of my lines too far apart, which will be something I will pay more attention to next time - but I decided to add in the sparkle to sort of mask my mistakes to myself (other people would have no idea.. which is kind of the best thing ever!)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look - I will see you all again soon!

Blue, Dots, Gold, Oh My!

Hello everyone!

I have had these photos edited and tossed to the side for at least two weeks meow. Why? Well, because my cuticles are so freaking dry that I thought it was just too gross to post. I don't even know how they photographed looking that awful - I honestly don't remember them being so awful. Must have been a really "off" day. This is your warning. My cuticles look rough, but the nails are too adorable to not post.

A little while back, I came across this POST over at Little Nails, and I loved the idea of having your base colour coated over with some gold leaf and then put dots on top of that - genius!

I used a base of China Glaze Sunday Funday, then I used my own handmade gold leaf top coat, and followed that with some fun time dots using China Glaze Lemon Fizz. I love this combo of not only polish, but of design - it is so fun! And it makes the dots look 3D.

Despite my super dry cuticles, I figured the greatness of this whole look would outweigh it.. maybe? Please?

I look forward to doing this with other colour combos - it is just delightful!

Have a fabulous day everyone - see you again soon!

Swatch Sunday + Haul

Hey everyone!

I think Sundays (not every Sunday.. I don't swatch enough for that.. or shop enough for that) will be the day that I will post up any random swatch photos I happen to have as well as any new things I have purchased - whether it be make-up, clothes, jewelry, etc.

The reason behind this is because I absolutely love watching those haul videos on youtube, but I don't really want to make those videos (I will stick with my random nail art video from time to time..) - anyways, hopefully any of you that might be reading it will enjoy this edition.. if not.. well, that is cool too!

First up is ILNP Bad Mogwai. When this gem first arrived to me, it was broken and so was my heart. BUT! It got handled, and a new sweet baby bottle was sent my way. I could not be happier! I decided to not use a base colour when I swatched this - I wanted a real idea as to how this gem would look - and I could not be happier! Of course I really want to wear it with a yellow base, but then again, I want to use a yellow base for everything. This was two coats - yeah, it is pretty densely packed.. and the name?! Genius! Love.

This is Essence Chic Reloaded and it is an awesome duochrome-y, colour shifty, beauty of a polish! I do recall when I swatched that it was not sunny - otherwise I would have exposed my ghost-like skin to the skin to catch this rascal in the sun! These photos show a glimpse of the shift-age. I was quite excited that Shopper's has started to carry Essence items - I mean, the polish is really inexpensive - and the quality seems to be quite decent - at least on this polish, anyways..

Now on to my haul items.. I have gone through some shopping withdrawals lately.. Mostly because I was trying to be really safe with my money - like, make sure my bills get paid and don't spend a penny more than necessary. On Thursday, I decided to treat myself a little bit as things are going to be a little better for the next month and a bit.. I mean, that makes sense.. right?!

The first place I stopped at is a shop called 'Laundry'. It now has two locations in Saskatoon - which is awesome! One is downtown, which is just a small shop, and then have now opened their second location in Centre Mall - and it is much larger with more items. And I find the prices aren't too shabby at all! My sister convinced me to go try this adorable blouse on - and I'm glad she did! It is lovely! It comes with this little necklace attached, but, I had to also pick up that amazing skull and pearl necklace!! It even has little spikes on it.. I feel like it was basically designed for me. If you happen to live in Saskatoon, and you're reading this - you should definitely check out one of the shops - the place is great!

Next, my sister and I stopped in at Target. It had opened two days earlier.. It is obviously a little picked over, but it is fun to have a new large "department" store in the city.. and it is close to where we live. We didn't do too much looking around, but I did find a really adorable dress..

Look at that adorable bird print! And the colour!? Awwwwesome! I also bought a Maybelline color tattoo pigment in Downtown Brown - but I forgot to take a photo.. derp.

After leaving Centre, we scuttled over to Midtown.. and of course I popped in to Sephora. I had a primer in my hand (I don't use primer, but had heard really great things about the one I was carrying around the store.. anyways..) and then I came across the Kat Von D display. I have heard amazing things about the foundation.. and I knew I was going to be out of my go-to in a day (seriously) and this colour looked like it would suit me perfectly (aka the lightest shade available). Then my sister points out that she now has blush available. You do not tell a blush junkie about new blush. It is like a moth to a flame. I then told my sister that I didn't really want to spend over $100 at Sephora (this time) and she was like 'well, you don't need the blush'... again, blush junkie.. of course I need the blush.. I told her as much, she laughed. Then I reasoned with myself out loud to her. I would get the foundation and blush, and then I can get the primer next pay cheque if I still feel I need (re: want) it. Done!

This is the Kat Von D lock-it tattoo foundation (it claims to be pigmented enough to fully cover a tattoo.. I might just have to try it at some point for kicks). It is full coverage, 24 hour wear, transfer resistant, matte finish, fragrance free, oil free, and for all skin types. Phew! So far, so good. And when it says full coverage, it means it! I don't have to use a concealer for any spots right now - which is pretty impressive to me! I do find that you have to blend quite quick because it does dry really fast - it is still sort of moveable, but yeah, work fast!

I know not everyone is a blush person, but I am 100% a blush person. I am exceptionally fair, and find that I need blush to make people believe that I am not a walking corpse (not to be confused with a zombie). Just looking at that photo of the blush makes my heart smile. This is the Kat Von D everlasting face shaper blush in Por Vida and it is also a 24 hour wear product (though I probably won't ever put that to the test.. well.. you never know!) I am a complete NARS blush fan, and I think I like this just as much.. if not.. um.. better. Eep!

...That is it for this post!

Have a great day everyone, and I will see you all again soon!!

Mint Mani for Talia Joy

Hey everyone!

Today a wealth of nail/beauty bloggers (and, I mean, it's Talia Joy, probably a wealth of other bloggers as well) have decided to all sport mint manis in her honour. I am going to take this informational intro from Nail Polish Wars for those of you that don't know who Talia is. "For those of you who might not know, the beauty community lost one of it's most treasured members on Tuesday morning ... Talia Joy Castellano.  Talia was a beautiful thirteen year old girl who was battling two horrible forms of cancer, neuroblastoma and preleukemia. She was also a supremely talented make up and nail artist.  You might have seen her amazing appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, where she was also made an honorary Cover Girl!"

I was extremely exhausted last night and didn't know if I could get any paint on my nails.. and then I thought - this young lady was battling two forms of cancer - you get some polish on your nails in her honour! No slacking!

Nothing fancy, but here is to you, Talia, just keep swimming.

I used China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint and Rainbow Honey Siren Song.

Take care everyone.. see you all again next time.

Borsch & Borsch With Sour Cream

Hey everyone!

No.. I'm not going to share my ma's expert Borsch recipe with you all (I say expert according to everyone else.. I'm not a borsch fan.. oops) - but I am going to share two Pirate Polish with you that have those names - that has to count for something!

When I had contacted the owner/creator behind Pirate Polish (Tara), I told her that I was told about this nail polish called 'Borsch' and that I had to get my mitts on it. She said she had some bottles available, they just weren't listed on her shop at the time - awesome! I was going to get one. She then informed me that she had a polish called 'Borsch With Sour Cream' that was to be a new release, etc, etc - would I be interested in that too? Uh. Yeah.

I have had these two gems sitting in my untried drawer some time now.. The other night I was like 'swatch them.. together..' so, I did.

I'm going to snag her description for Borsch: This lacquer has a beet-red base colour (broth), small burgundy glitter and red hexagonal glitter (chunks of beets), and metallic green bar glitter (dill, of course). Please note that the green bar glitter pulls slightly blue-green in the red base, but the intended effect is still achieved.

And for Borsch With Sour Cream - all of that.. just a lightened base.. you know.. because of the sour cream - I know, I'm quite possibly a genius.

These two gems are a lot of fun - and exactly what I would expect from polish created in the likelihood of borsch!!

I don't see any bottles listed on her shop right meow - but I'm sure more will become available at some point in time.. until then, you can go stalk all the awesome goodies HERE - you've been warned, there are some pretty rad polish available!

Take care until next time!

Ohhh right - and remember to entry my GIVEAWAY going on right now - you still have 8 days to enter!

Whisper Down Delainie + Giveaway!

Hello everyone!

A few months ago, I helped out with an Indiegogo Campaign for Joyful Noise Cosmetics - and I chose the 'Name A Product After Me' perk. Now, with this type of perk, I really have no say in the product or what will be named after me.. I just told the awesome owner/creator Laura that I would prefer it to be nail polish. Not only did she name an awesome polish after me.. It is legitimately something that I would ask to be created. Wait until you see it!

Look at that glittery goodness!! Laura lists it as being "an array of pink, teal, and green holographic glitters in small and medium sizes". Sounds pretty good to me. AND! She called it 'Whisper Down Delainie' (side note: she spelled my name correctly.. I will forever be grateful for that - you have no idea how difficult my name proves to be for people!! It is the 'i's, I know). You can get your mitts on a bottle HERE.. Or you can scope out my giveaway activity at the bottom of this blog post.. yeah, that is correct - I am giving away a bottle of this sweet, sweet gem!!!

I included some out-of-focus shots to show off the amazing glitter activity.. -swoon-

My pinky has uno coat of WDD, ring has deux, middle and index have three, and I believe my thumb has four coats of WDD. It is just delightful!

Want to try and win a bottle of my namesake polish? Well, have at it!

When the polish was released - Laura contacted me to let me know.. So I ordered a bottle immediately - though she did say she wanted to send me a bottle as well.. I told her if she sent an extra bottle, I'd use it for a rad giveaway, so thank you muchos Laura!!

I will put in a sidenote - the giveaway is open to everyone around the globe - but I want my overseas followers to know that I only have a 50% success rate with packages I have sent across the world.. So, I cannot guarantee that it will make it.. but here is to hoping, right?!

The giveaway runs from RIGHT MEOW (July 6) until Friday, July 19 at 11:59 PM EST.

Sugar Spun

Hey everyone & Happy Canada Day!

So.. textured nails.. textured nail polish.. I wasn't too keen on the whole idea - not because I think it looks bad (it looks rad) but because I know that when I wear rhinestones or studs, etc, I pick at my nails and ruin the whole mani within the span of 24 hours.

I saw this awesome tutorial on The Nailasaurus the other day.. and figured I would actually give this whole sugar spun nails a go. I didn't glob polish on the side of fingers - but maybe I will try that next time..

I didn't pick them all off within 24 hours either.. kind of impressed with myself. I think I have been sporting them for almost 2 days. Yeah. Serious business!

I used butter London Slapper as my base, and then butter London Cheeky Chops for the sugar spun technique. I also used a dotting tool instead of a toothpick..

Thinking back, and knowing that I'd be posting it today.. I should have used red and white.. you know.. for Canada Day. Oops!

Hope everyone is having an awesome day - and I will see you all again soon!!
