Pirate Polish Mint Milkshake

Hey everyone!

Before the challenge starts up tomorrow, I figured I'd toss up a quick post featuring Pirate Polish Mint Milkshake!!

The description from its listing on etsy: "Mint Milkshake is a delicious combination of reflective mint-green hexagonal glitters in a milky base."

Now. I cheated just a wee little bit.. I used a coat of white nail polish before applying this - just because I wanted it to be more opaque. The next time I go to use this gem, I will go base-less and see that milky base in action!

Like with all my other Pirate Polish, zero application problems, awesome unique polish, AND it doesn't hurt that Tara is local.

You can scope out this polish HERE.. and then go look at the other awesome polish goodies, obviously.

Quick Update

Hey everyone!

So.. My last post was 6 days ago.. and I don't really think I have anything just sitting around to post up. Whomp-whomp.

I am sort of "stuck" on how to paint my nails right meow. I trump every idea thinking that I do it too often, or it's not going to work out, etc. Laaame. My last few manis have just been straight polish.. which isn't awful, it just doesn't help that I don't remember to snap any photos.

BUT!

Today I saw that Sarah over at Chalkboard Nails will be doing the 31 Day Challenge in September.. so.. I think I am going to jump aboard on that. At least it will dictate what I am supposed to be doing. I like that!

So, there it is.. if any of you are interested in joining in as well, that would be rad!

I don't know how much posting I will do leading up to September 1 - which is right away here.. but be prepared. September will be a good month!

Summery Gradient with Leopard Activity

....I should never be left to my own post naming devices. Sigh

Hello everyone!

I was going through my nail inspiration pins.. as I do.. pretty much daily.. and THIS photo kept coming to mind.. I knew a few polish sitting in my untried bag that I could work some magic with.. I think it turned out rather fun.

I used China Glaze Highlight of My Summer, China Glaze Bottom's Up, Essie In the Cab-Ana, butter London Cheeky Chops, and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

I really, really like Highlight of My Summer and Bottom's Up.. but they kind of went on a bit streaky and dried very chalky.. but once a top coat was applied - all was well. I realize my gradient doesn't look too on point in this photo.. but I kind of like that the pink still shows at the top.. I just think they are fun nails!

I was also sporting them during this strange heat wave we were going through. It seems like we're going to  be cooling down a bit this week. I don't think I wanted any more 30+ weather anyways. Well, ok, if it wants to show up near the end of September, I'd like that. Push back "winter", please.

That is all for today! See you again soon..

OMG Nail Strips

Hey everyone!

Back in July, I was contacted by OMG Nail Strips asking if I'd be interested in checking out a set of their nail strips. I am not the hugest fan of nail strips for me - I just like getting to paint my own nails - BUT - I do understand the greatness of nail strips.. Plus, after I scoped their website, there were a few that interested me. I had my pal Yaz help me narrow it down to the Peacock Nail Polish Strips.. because.. I need to be real here: I can't replicate that exact design on my nails.

I will say these are probably the easiest nail strips I have used application wise.. Or maybe it is because I have applied strips a time or five - but seriously, I applied one fairly crooked at one point, and was able to lift it off and reapply with zero problems. I liked that a lot!

I also really liked how easy they were to remove.. I seriously only swiped over a time or three with some nail polish remover.. I expected to be putting in some serious work to remove them like I have with other strips I have tried in the past.

I feel there are also quite a few unique options - which is always a plus. I figure if you're going to use nail stickers, go for some serious activity.. otherwise.. well.. what is the point?

My only real dislike on these strips - and I have to say this about polish strips in general - they never are close to fitting my nails. I always have to cut them to make them sort of fit. I either have baby nails or just weird nails in general. I haven't really decided my issue yet.

I sort of think my nails look a little rough in these photos.. but I don't recall them looking so strange in real life. Dangit photos! I did really, really like this design though - particularly strip I used on my thumb! That is the one strip that I didn't have to doctor (re: cut) as much as the others. Plus it uses a wealth of green.. makes sense it would be my favourite.

You can scope out all of the rad nail stickers by clicking HERE annnd there is currently a little promo going on.. You get any 4 set of strips for $20 if you use the code 4pack - how awesome is that?!

If you're a little wary on how to apply these strips - you can check out this link HERE and it will give you all the application information.

You can also scope out this LINK... There is a new giveaway every month.. which is pretty awesome!

Haul For The Week Of Aug 12-18

Hey everyone!

I did a wee little bit of shopping on Thursday.. I also had some exciting items arrive in the mail that same day.. so basically Thursday was MY day. I figure I will share the fun items that I bought and leave the boring items (contact lens solution, deodorant, etc, out).. Shall we?

I came home from work on Thursday to see a little box waiting for me.. checked the sender.. it was from makeupgeek! eeee! I had been waiting a few moons these beauties to arrive..

The eyeshadows I ordered (L-R starting at the top) are: Peach Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Shimma Shimma, Bleached Blonde, Hipster, and Cosmopolitan.

Now, some of you avid readers are probably like 'you have a lot of eyeshadow.. surely you have millions of these colours!' True, but, I don't have them by this brand. Yes, I have a wealth of make-up.. but I always like to try different brands. Though I do think I can slooooow down on make-up buying for awhile. I really do have a lot to go through. I was just really excited to try these gems out.. and the z palette is pretty adorable.. I ordered HERE.

Then, later Thursday evening.. I went over to the mall.. I had stopped in during my lunch break with Yaz.. saw a couple of items I liked at Laundry and figured I could hit there and Target and call it a night. One of the shirts I wanted from Laundry I didn't end up getting (I didn't love it on me) but I did score some rad things!

Yeah. A mustache cardigan.. Kind of a big deal! It is lovvvely! Then I grabbed two basic shirts - one in white and one in black. I really like the necklines on these gems. And they are super soft - very nice quality. I really do love that store. OH! And they now follow me on twitter.. I kind of had a heart attack when I saw that!! Again, if you're in Saskatoon.. Go check them out! There is a store in Centre Mall and one downtown!!

Next stop: Target. There were some essentials I stopped in to get - again, boring stuff.. and I really needed another bottle of acetone, but they didn't have any.. so I decided to amble over to Shoppers (on the other side of the mall) - they also do not sell acetone. What?! Dumb. A Wal-Mart run will have to happen at some point.. Anyways. I will share my two "fun" purchases from Target and Shoppers.

The primer was picked up at Shoppers. I have wanted it for awhile.. and it was safer to pick this gem up at Shoppers instead of Sephora.. and I also used some of my points towards it. Yay! I decided to give a primer a shot because lately my nose has been getting really oily (ew) during the day - I have never really had that happen to me before (or maybe I didn't really notice?!) Maybe this will help? Plus, the cap is adorable. I'm a polka dot fiend.

The brushes I picked up from Target. I wanted some different brushes to have.. I have quite a few.. but I really wanted that angled face brush.. in case I want to try some slight face conturing from time to time.. Plus this set made more sense from a value point of view. Yup!

That is all for meow - I hope you all had a great week - what are some of your purchases from the past week??

Splatter Nails

Hey everyone!

I had been on such a good roll with getting posts up on a regular basis and then just.. nope.. Lame! I don't have a rad excuse either.. Umm.. I will think of something - until then, however, you can check out the awesome splatter nails I am currently sporting!

I even included a shot of my awkwardly posed right hand! Bonus!

I used OPI What's With The Cattitude? as my base colour.. Then I went with some China Glaze Lemon Fizz, China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le, China Glaze Sugar High, and China Glaze Liquid Leather. I used a coffee "straw" - it wasn't a stir stick per se, but it wasn't a straw either.. It is a hybrid.

Well, that is all for meow.. see you all again soon!

Eyelash Extensions

Hey everyone!

I didn't get any swatching done this week.. and I didn't buy anything (other than food items) this week.. sooo.. I guess that means that I will just fill this void day with my post about getting eyelash extensions - yay!

I had been thinking about getting them for quite some time - mostly because I absolutely hate my eyelashes. I feel like some sort of creep every time I bring this up, but I actually look at girl's lashes from the side all. the. time. I swear every girl I look at, their eyelashes are perfectly curled, have great thickness, and look amazing. I look at mine from the side: stick straight and short. Rad.

Sure, when I do my make-up, get my lashes all curled and mascaraed, they look great.. for maximum 45 minutes. Fake eyelashes are fun, but I don't want to have the hassle of applying them every single day either.

Now, some of you are probably like me.. and when you think eyelash extensions, you think of those massively long lashes that brush your eyebrows and then quickly nix the whole idea.. BUT.. it honestly isn't like that.

On Tuesday, I was out with a friend, and I kept looking at her lashes (like the creeper that I am) and I finally said: 'hey, did you get eyelash extensions?!' She had. At that moment the stars, planets, etc, aligned and I knew I had to get some for myself.

I took to kijiji and poured over the various ads. I finally settled on one.. the reason, and I even told Sarah this - is because her ad was error free and it made me feel comfortable. (side note: in the end, it also doesn't hurt that she lives right by me.. awwwesome!)

I was in contact with her on Wednesday afternoon, and had an appointment booked for Friday evening.

Just before I left for my appointment, I decided to snap some photos - I figured I could probably make a blog post about the whole process. My before photos..

Look at those little nubbly lashes. Yet I think my sister has great lashes, and so does my brother. Why did I get stuck with these weak babies?

I got to Sarah's place, and we talked a bit about the process. She really put me at ease about the whole thing. I mean, having a strange chemical (some glue) near your eyes isn't the most comforting of thoughts, but she definitely made the process sound less horrifying.

Basically, the extensions are attached to your existing lashes.. nothing too scary about that! She then placed these little white pads under my eyes, but over my bottom lashes.. That was probably the worst part of the whole thing, and it didn't bother me. In fact, not many eye-things bother me.. Probably because I'll touch my eyes and rub my finger around them just to bother people (I'm a very strange person.. I admit it). Once those pads were in place, it was go time.

The process takes over an hour, but under two.. and you get to just rest your eyes the whole time. I was told that many people just go to sleep - and I probably could have, but I was just taking in work the entire time.

When it was all over, my left eye was being kind of stubborn - some of the lashes just didn't want to separate so I could open my eye - it wasn't a big deal, got it handled quickly. Then when I got to see them.. I was so happy! I had the eyelashes that I always stare at on others. I finally had lashes that weren't terrible!

Afterwards, she went over upkeep and certain products to use/avoid (basically anything with oil will break down the glue and you probably won't get a good amount of wear time from them) - I ended up picking coating sealer that provides the lashes with a longer life, and some oil free make-up remover and primer.. Because I do love my eye shadows.. She also had mascara and eyeliner available - which I might check out on my next visit.

I know that this look wouldn't be for everyone, and some people think it is 'silly', but I could not be happier! I also really like it because I feel like I wouldn't even have to really bother with any make-up, and I'd still look bright-eyed.. who wouldn't love that!?

If you're reading this, you're interested, and you live in Saskatoon - you should go check out this ad and get in contact with Sarah - you won't regret it!!

Take care everyone, and I will see you soon!!

Cosmos/Kayla Shevonne Inspired Galaxy Nails

Hey everyone!

The other day aka not last week but the week before - I received my bottle of piCture pOlish Cosmos in the mail.. and I was like 'this would be perfect as a base for really rad galaxy nails!' - check through blogs a couple of days later.. annnnnd Kayla totally did galaxy nails with it as a base! Genius! I went with her look for my inspiration and came up with some really great gems..

I went with a base of Cosmos - which is basically a glorious one coater polish. Then I sponged on some China Glaze White on White, followed by Rainbow Honey The Kracken sponged on the outskirts of the white sponging. I then took some purple glitter from the Love & Beauty Purple/Silver polish and tossed them within the white/Kracken mix. On my thumb, I used some glitter activity from Rainbow Honey Special World to jazz it up a bit more.. and of course some dots/stars using China Glaze White on White.

I also snapped some photos of just Cosmos.. Because it is perfection.

Look at it. I feel my eyes glazing over from lack of blinking because I'm just drinking in the beauty that is this polish.

Siiiigh.

Have a great Monday everyone - I know I will be.. It is a holiday Monday (:

Take care, and see you again soon!!

Haul For The Week Of July 29-Aug 4

Hey everyone..

I know I said I don't do too much hauling.. and I didn't really plan to this week.. But I did pick up some polish and some items.. so I figured I'd just toss them all together. I'm not doing a great job of not making myself look like a shopaholic.. I will remedy that.. I think? Sigh.

I went to Centre Mall on Wednesday evening.. Partially to kill time, partially to get some hair colour, and mostly just to "shop" - again, to kill time. I stopped in at Bath and Body Works and Target.

The Bath and Body Works store opened.. last week.. or 2 weeks ago now? I don't really know. I didn't go when it first opened - apparently the line-up was horrendous. When I stopped in on Wednesday, it was quiet, I quickly grabbed what I wanted, and got out of there.

Ok, I know what you all must be thinking.. Pumpkin scents, Dee?! It is "summer"! Yeah, well, I could happily live in a house infested with the aroma of pumpkin all. year. long. I enjoy it that much. I knew that the pumpkin scents had been released.. and I knew I needed 'Pumpkin Cupcake', and then I'd figure out the other candle to get once in the store. I took a whiff of 'Pumpkin Caramel Latte' and was sold. Easy and quick transaction.

Now, Target opened a couple of weeks ago too.. I have been there 3 times now.. It was so nice on Wednesday there - it was quiet and I actually got to just peruse through the store. I didn't end up buying too many items.. which is probably a good thing. Basically I was familiarizing myself with the store and its products. I felt the need to do that. I have no idea why.

I bought a super comfy pair of pajama capris (the leopard bad-boys there), L'Oreal The Sparklicious nail polish, Rimmel Apocalips in 102 Nova (I nearly sobbed when I saw these available - I have listened/watched them being raved about on youtube for months now) *Side note: I went back on Thursday evening with my sister and bought Stellar for me, and a red for her (Big Bang, I think?)*, Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum (I am out of Moroccan Oil and figured I'd try something different for a bit), and some sweet galaxy leggings!

Thursday.. I bought some books during my lunch break.. (I bought three), then I came home to naaaaail maaaaail!

Sarah over at Chalkboard Nails had a post a couple weeks back using Licorice Allsorts - and I knew immediately that I needed it. Huge licorice allsorts fan - and this polish perfectly sums up what comes along in that bag of awesomeness. BUT.. Since Candy Lacquer was a new-to-me-brand, I decided to snap up another polish - and I decided on Citrus Smoothie. Cannot wait to test out these gems!

Thursday evening.. I bought a pair of shoes.. They were $12.49!

(photo from callitspring.com)

These are the shoes via the website - I am not sure how much longer they will be around.. I really wanted the black pair - I saw them awhile back - then my sister told me they were massively on sale. We went to the store closest to us, and they had red and blue. I settled on the red pair. I could order the black pair online.. but I'm good with these gems. I love the little skulls on them!!

Friday I was fairly well behaved.. I spent the day out and about with my siblings..

Saturday.. Ohhh Saturday. I spent my morning/a touch in to the afternoon getting highlights put in my hair (which I love), then I bought some shampoos.. and.. I bought an eyeshadow palette. Do I need anymore makeup, particularly eyeshadow? No. But. I have been lusting after this palette for many, many days now.. and decided to get myself one more "treat", then calm down for a bit.

It is the Too Faced Pretty Rebel palette.. Go look at it HERE.. and faint over the swatches HERE

That is it.. I'm done.. For this week. Let's hope that next week is muchos quieter as far as spending goes.

See you all again soon!!

Swatch Sunday: Rainbow Honey

Hey everyone!

Today I am bringing you my swatch-activty of the Rainbow Honey: The Summer of 199X Part II collection. I have also added in Summer Blossom & Special World for good measure!!

I am just going to get started.. There are quite a few photos to share. I am also going to be using the descriptions from the site.. because.. we all know I'm not too good with that.

I knew I wanted to swatch Mint Flavor immediately, as I figured that would be my favourite out of the set.. And it was.. and then Tessie almost tied it.. Then Apple Kid happened.. You'll see!

First up is Mint Flavor. "Part aqua, part baby blue, part shimmer, this was hands down the best window flavor. Because...you taste windows, right?" The swatch shows 2 coats of Mint Flavor with SVTC. Then, I applied a coat of all the glittery polish that I received. Index is Special World, middle is Summer Blossom, ring is I Miss You, and pinky is Magic Cake.

Special World: "For Dee's birthday this year, she's decided to make a very special glitter topper nail lacquer and is sharing it with all of you!" Of course I needed to have it. Plus, she goes by 'Dee' as well. AND! I swear we write our D's the same and make the same type of hearts. Weird? I don't think so! Also.. I didn't notice this until I was swatching things, but the top of the bottle is numbered! That is really awesome to me.

Summer Blossom: "summer blossom - a festival of orange, yellow, and white blossoms in a sea of iridescent and holographic glitters."

I Miss You: "I Miss You is a pastel rainbow of glitters and shimmer, these butterflies are sure to cure the homesick traveler."

Magic Cake: "Magic Cake - Turn any manicure into a neon blast with these bright glitters; word on the street is this cake will make you trip!"

I had no real problems with the application of Mint Flavor.. It leveled out nicely with a second coat.. and it is a gorgeous colour!

I had an issue with two of the glittery gems. Both 'I Miss You' and 'Magic Cake' have wonky brushes. They are very weirdly bent.. It doesn't ruin applying the polish, but you have to use a little finesse when applying them.. A touch disappointing - but they are still lovely!

Next, I went with Tessie.. This polish is sososo pretty - I really liked it with my skin tone. "No need to join the Tessie-Watching Club when you can have this dusty and shimmery periwinkle creme at your fingertips."

This polish also had a wonky brush.. It was probably the most bent of the brushes. It made application quite tricky.. BUT! This polish is worth the work in my opinion. It is just lovely. It has this gorgeous subtle shimmer going on. Had I have swatched during the day and not the middle of the night, I would have liked to see it in all of its glory in the sunshine.

Lastly, here is Apple Kid. Just.. wow. I absolutely love this polish. "This bright and rosy fuchsia creme won't build you any useful contraptions but it is filled with more shimmer than you can shake a Pencil Eraser at."

Zero problems with this gem of a polish. Oh, and I might add: it is one coat of polish. One! Now, I know my own rules, as I am sure some of you do as well: I never never never just do one coat of polish.. I always go with at least two.. I legitimately left this with one coat. It is perfection! It is like the pink (ok, fuchsia) version of piCture pOlish O'Hara - which is a one coat beautiful red. Seriously. Amazing!

Overall, I'd say I'm a HUGE fan of my most recent Rainbow Honey polish. I have been a supporter of the brand for awhile now, and I have yet to be disappointed by one of their polish. I mostly own a wealth of glittery gems, but with these cremes.. My goodness. So great! Despite the wonky brushes on a couple of the polish, I'm still smitten.

Have a lovely day everyone - see you again soon!!

Rainbow Honey Mixed-Braids

Hey everyone!

So. This post should have technically been up on Wednesday. Silly me for that paying attention and forgetting to schedule it to post. Sigh.

Anyways!

You get it today - so that counts for something, right?!

After getting my Rainbow Honey 'The Summer of 199X Part II' collection swatched (that post is coming up on Sunday).. I knew I had to do something rad with the polish and wear it for a couple of days. I couldn't decide which polish to use.. So.. I used them all.

I used a mix of Apple Kid, Mint Flavor, and Tessie for the "braids" - please excuse how rough looking they are.. My index finger is a base of Apple Kid with I Miss You on top, and my pinky is Mint Flavor with Magic Cake on top.

Kind of a mish-mash going on - but I also kind of like it!

I just wish my lines were a little cleaner now that I look at these photos. I'm just going to pretend that they look decent and move on with my day.

The whole collection with be up on Sunday aka 'Swatch Sunday'! Woo! Um, yeah.

Take care until then!
