NYE Nails + Happy New Year

Hey everyone..

You're going to, again, get two posts in one day. I had meant to snap photos of my NYE nails yesterday and edit and upload then, but, well, you know that thing with life and it wanting to get in the way.

I had an awesome NYE. I was celebrating a birthday, so basically I was not home all day, then, when I got home, it was time to do a quick tidy-up as we were suddenly going to be hosting a birthday/NYE bash at our place. Luckily it was a lot of fun - I hope everyone had an excellent time bringing in the new year, whether you were out partying, at a party, or just home with loved ones, or even home by yourself - everyone has their 'thing'.

Thank-you all for sticking with me through 2013. I think I went on 2 hiatus periods. Lame. I am hoping I won't do that this year. I strive to just continue on my merry way.. finding nail art I like, and trying to replicate it as best as I can, and then sharing it all with you.

Anyways. My NYE nails are what I consider 'classic NYE' nails. Black and gold.

I used Formula X for Sephora Dark Matter and Formula X for Sephora Out of Sight. I first went with a coat from about half of my nail towards the cuticle, then I dabbed the polish near the cuticle line to really get some gold chunks concentrated in that area. I liked them.

Well, see you all again in a few with my fave manis of 2013 post!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
