31DC2014 - Day 3 - Yellow

Hey everyone!

For day 3 of the #31DC2014, the prompt is: yellow. Yellow is one of favourite nail polish colours.. it only gets trumped by blue.. so.. obviously I grabbed every yellow from my shelf and just looked at them. Now, I am not sure if anyone else is like this, but one of the first things that I think of when I want to work with yellow nail polish is: bananas.. I have gone banana nails a few times.. so why not do it using all yellow shades? Done.

I started all nails off with a base of Illamasqua Load

Once that was fairly dry, I used Zoya Pippa to make my banana shapes. I followed that with a stripe of Sinful Colors Unicorn to add a touch of a highlight, then roughly outlined and added some detail to the bananas using FxFS Dark Matter.

I feel like any time I do nail art, the look it never complete without some sort of dot activity. This look was no different. I grabbed Ninja Polish Humblebee, got some on the tip of my tiny detail brush and threw down some matte glitter dots. Done. I was content!

There is just something about banana nails that makes me 100% happy. Maybe because it is so strange.. no idea, but it always turns out fun!

Hope everyone has a great day -- and I shall see you tomorrow!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
