My Top 15 of 2014

Hey everyone!

As per every year for the last.. 2? 3? I do my own little round-up at the end to just share the manis that I personally treasured the most. The best part is that every year, I get to pick an extra one.. so this is fantastic! I am not entirely sure how many manis I posted (and didn't post) for 2014, but it seemed like a substantial amount when I was perusing the posts. BUT! I narrowed it down to 15. So. Here it goes. My personal top 15 of 2014.

In no particular order..

How could I not involve a look with this polish? I just love it. I am about half way done it.. I have had a backup bottle in my mitts on multiple occasions, but always put it back because it isn't necessary - yet - but will be soon. This blue is perfection.. and to pair it with pinks? Well, that is elementary.

This cheekily named polish was probably one of my favourite purchases for this year. My sister had sent me a photo of this amazing ombre (which I mention in the original post) and I had to recreate it with a little extra character. Plus - winter.. it was fitting.

These are probably my favourite set of nails of 2014, just sayin'. They are cheeky, fun, and cute. All things that I constantly strive for, yet don't always achieve. Plus, pin-up vibe, anyone?

The 31 Day Challenge was actually a very great time for me this past year. I think I made 3 picks from that month long extravaganza! And, I mean, who does not love banana nail art? This time I went with a less in-your-face base colour, and added some yellow glitter bits - hey.. why not, right?! Love these.

See? I said the 31 Day Challenge was a big deal for me. I loved these. Neon pink. Black. Gold. Snakeskin. Perfection!

Of course I had to include my favourite type of nail do-age in here. Galaxy nails. You cannot go wrong. Ever. I always tell people who look at them and wonder how to can just layer on polish after polish and have it look 'this neat'. Have fun - be wild - they will always be crowd pleasers.

Rainbow leopard print.. ... ....

I remember when I was sent these water decals, I was talking to my sister.. and said I had created this perfectly 80s water colour base and was going to toss the decals on. All she said was 'can you title the post 'I'm truly sorry, but I mustache'. Her wish, my command.

These were the nails I personally sported for Halloween. They are gross, and that is what I am all about. Love these!

I cannot watermarble to save my soul, but I sure can do that faux watermarble where you spray some alcohol on the polish and then dip your nail in - pretty much fool proof, so, ahem.. moving on! I figured this kind of dainty gold glitter look would turn bad ass with that method and a cute little pearl spider. I was correct.

I tossed these in here because: neon pink, skulls, GLITTAH, and, most importantly, spikes. Just punky perfection!

I love these.. yes, they were a redo of my own because the original colour palette I chose just was not appealing enough to my eyeballs, but this was. Plus, the splatter nails look like jawbreakers. Kind of a big deal.

I still remember seeing the inspiration photo for this. I was like 'yes, YESSSSSS!' because.. gold flakies are just so.. that thing that is needed. If I could, I would gold flakie all the things. Seriously.

These turned out so much better than I thought they would. Pretty much every person that looked at them thought they were stickers (ok, maybe not so much my thumb, but 4/5 is good!) and I just.. they scream Christmastime. Just feel goodness all around.

Ok, I had to include these. I really like them. Plus, I want to share a story that still leaves me.. puzzled. I was contacted by a rep for mod cloth. Rad! She said to choose a dress, and do nails inspired by it. Ok, awesome. She contacts me a couple days before she wants them done, photographed, and turned in. Ok, no problem. She sends me constant email reminders.. ok.. I get it. I am on it. I submit them.. and am never responded to again. Maybe they weren't good enough to be featured? But my thing.. why hound someone for something and then just bugger off. Left a rather odd taste in my mouth. Great nails, though.

That is all for my Top 15 of 2014! I hope you all had an amazing 2014. Me? Not so much. And 2015 is not off to a good start.. but hey.. that is life.

I have also decided (as of this afternoon) to do this..

So keep your eyes peeled for that bad boy beginning on the 2nd. Have a safe and (hopefully) rad start to 2015! At least my nails can have a good time.

See you next year ;)

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
