TTDIHALC - Day 14 - New Technique

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I am a couple days late getting my blog post up.. BUT! I did post these on instagram on the 14th.. so technically, not late - gnome sayin'?

Anyways.

For the new technique prompt, I was stuck.. I looked at millions (ok.. hundreds) of photos, and was like 'did, did, did, did' and was coming up empty-handed. I posted a quick memo on the PAA page on FB asking for help, and I got it. Two came up a few times that I was like 'hmmm'. One was nimbus nails ala The Nailasaurus and the other was shaving cream marble. I had done similar techniques to the nimbus nails, so I really wanted to do the shaving cream nails, but the dude was already low on shaving cream (mental note: buy an extra can to try the shaving cream marble!), so I went with nimbus because acetone and q'tips, I got!

For this, I used:
  • China Glaze White on White
  • China Glaze Sunday Funday
  • Essie Bikini So Teeny
  • China Glaze One Track Mind
  • Formula X for Sephora Infatuated
  • Acetone
  • Q-tips

Scope out the tutorial by Sammy HERE. It is awesome, and easy, and looks rad!

Also. Fan girl moment. Sammy liked my instagram photo. Yay!

Sorry for having this up late.. the rest of them should be up on time. Heavily note the 'should'.

Neutral Dots

Hey everyone!

Long time, no blog. I have just been soso bad about getting photos of my nails.. going to try to end the year on a high note. Fingers crossed!

I apologize for how drrrry my hands/cuticles look in these photos. You know how you know that your hands are dry, but you don't think they are that bad, and maybe they aren't, but a photo makes it look 50x worse? That.

I was able to snap up this set of 4 Butter London gem polishes awhile back.. very neutral, but it had a particular shade I had been eyeing.. but that is not what I have used here, naturally.

I used:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
Butter London Ta-ta!
Sally Hansen White On!
Dotting Tool
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

That is all for today. I have mostly been wearing a wealth of polka dotted nail art.. there is something I want to re-visit from a couple of years back - will probably do that this weekend, and then keep going from there. Halloween is on the horizon.. so.. that will be a thing too. Take care…

Grungey Leopard Nails

Hey everyone!

Today I have some grungey leopard print nails for you.. I had a different direction I had wanted to go in last night, but then ended up with this. Not disappointed.

I used:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base CoatButter London High TeaOrly Liquid VinylSally Hansen Terra-CoppaAcetoneBrushDotting ToolSeche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
I did two coats of the base colour (High Tea), then I was adding "splatter" prints with black (Liquid Vinyl) but felt they were too perfect.. so.. I decided to douse them with some acetone.. then.. I just decided to "smoke" them out.. which made the nails look grungey. But. This is me. I couldn't stop there. I decided to make dots (Terra-Coppa) throughout the smokey black, then make it into leopard print. Love.

That is all for today - see you all again soon!

Black Marble (sort of).

Hey everyone!

-Insert gratuitous reasoning(s) of why I have been away-

Ok, now that that is out of the way, hi!

I just realized I still have a couple post photos stocked up. Sigh. I haven't even uploaded all that is currently living on my camera. The fear is real.

That is for another day. Mayhaps this weekend.

Until then.

I think I said it at some point on my blog, but I feel like 2017 is going to be the year that I constantly do faux marble nails. Note: not watermarbling. I have given in to that failed activity far too many times.

No, I mean the classy kind of marble. You know.

This time, I did it in reverse, because, why not?

 It counts, right?

Ugh. I love it.

All right, that is all for today. See you all again soon (I promise).
