X Marks The Spot

Hey everyone!

I told myself not to post until the morning, but by the time morning shows up, I might not even remember all the ding-dang work I have just done - so, while I am awake and working on future posts, why not get it rolling right meow!

I have spent the last hour editing/watermarking pictures dating back to April/May.. and I only listened to THIS SONG, and I am not even remotely tired of it. That, and it made this daunting task that I have put off for months fly by! Yay for having content!

Ok.

On to the good stuff!

I am involved with a crew of amazing Canadian gals, and this is my second swap with them - what we do is we pick $$ groups and then the gals in charge distribute nails, and it is a surprise, and you buy polish and goodies for that person.. and then surprise! They get your goodies in mail, and you get goodies from someone, basically goodies for everyone!

Now, the extremely rad part about this group is that some of the gals are indie shop owners and give sweet discount codes (not that I would need a discount code to support the solid work they do, but hey, save some, spend more.. right?!)

Anyways!

One of the gals runs My Nails Did and creates and sells vinyls. Of course I had to get some of them. They are amaaaazing!

With that being said, I am terrible with nail vinyls. I was so stoked for the X vinyls, and only got 1.5 nails to work.. so.. my thumb on my left hand looks exquisite! The rest I had to freehand, because, fail.

I used:
  • Essence The Gel Base Coat
  • Essence The Gel Don't Be Shy!
  • Essence The Gel Wild White Ways
  • Essence The Gel Top Coat
  • Sponge
  • Little Brush
  • X Nail Stencil (just got for my thumb/sort of for index)
  • OPI My Favorite Ornament

My grand plan was to do a gradient (success), then lay the stencil down, and reverse the gradient on top (fail x 9), then paint some gold.. I just ended up hand painting errythang. Which is fine.. but that thumb though! But hey, if you don't look at my thumb, it does not look like a complete fail, right? Please say I am right!

That is all for this evening. Look for more content constantly coming at you - legit promise!

Canada Day - Saran Wrap Style

I had said the other day that I would be using the Saran Wrap method again soon.. And I really did mean soon. I figure it was the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day (nail-wise) without over-doing it.. I mean, I'm fairly patriotic as a rule, but sometimes sporting a Maple Leaf on my fingers isn't exactly my style.. ANYways.. See? The love is there with the red and white.. I know I said the next time I did the saran wrap method, I was going to try with three colours.. But, I think I will maybe leave that experiment for tomorrow - today is only about these two colours! So.. How I get to this? Well, allow me to show you. Start off with the colours of your choice - one as the base, and one as your.. distress-er? And some saran/cling wrap. I take two pieces and ball them up.. You could use more or less.. But I figure two hands, two, er, balls. Yikes. After your base has COMPLETELY DRIED (you can do these a couple of hours in advance, the night before, or even use some

Dry Marble Technique

Hey everyone! Yes.. Dry marble technique.. well.. technically I am water marbling, but allowing the polish to "dry" on the water.. then using it as a nail decal. Does that sound confusing? It might. But. I think this will be my next video. It is actually a lot of fun to do. And while I think this first attempt is grand, it could be better. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Sally Hansen Bubblegum Pink Sally Hansen  Babe Blue Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow Water Dotting Tool Bowl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I will probably film a video for this within the next week - so I will post up that gem soon. Or, there are probably a wealth online for you to look up in the mean time. Super fun technique without all the hassle of legit water marbling. See you all again soon!

Splatter Floral Nails

Hey everyone! Last night, after I did these nails and when I went to bed - I was quite pleased with my nails. When I woke up this morning, though, I wasn't overly crazy about them. I thought of a few things I could change so that I would really like them.. I am very tempted to take how I want them to look and recreate them before work.. I might just have to do it. Anyways! Really, there is nothing wrong with them.. I just sort of find them.. boring? Ah well! I used: Lime Crime Milky Ways China Glaze White On White OPI My Favourite Ornament China Glaze Highlight Of My Summer China Glaze Sweet Hook OPI Mod About You Formula X For Sephora Infatuated Orly Liquid Vinyl China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I made the roses with a "main" colour and white, then I did the details with the "main" colour and black mixed together. Again, I don't dislike these bad boys.. I am just not amazed by them! Also.. did you
