31DC2016 - Day 30 - Inspired By A Tutorial

Hey everyone! For today I went with a tutorial for marble nails.. I actually did these probably a week or 2 ago.. which is when I snapped my one nail.. which meant I had to cut it mid-way through the challenge. Bleh. But anyways! I quite like how these turned out - and irl people got it. Success! You can find the youtube tutorial HERE I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Formula X White Matter Orly Mirror Mirror China Glaze Pelican Gray OPI Black Onyx Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 29 - Inspired By The Supernatural

Hey everyone! I cannot believe I have actually made it to this zone in the challenge.. usually I pack in the towel on the first day of the 'inspired by' zone. Yay me! I think I have successfully completed this once? Not sure - will look in to that. So. Supernatural. I thought of a Ouija board. Funny side story. When my sister and I were younger, we convinced our mom to let us buy the Ouija board - but she warned us not to let our dad know we had it. Or he would be.. displeased, and get rid of it. Which was always strange to me - as our dad is suuuuper easy going. Anyways. We bought the board. Had not even cracked it out of the box - but we had to hide it as our dad was about to get home from work. We waited a couple days to get back to our hiding spot to get the board out and try it. It was gone. Our dad somehow 'sensed' the board, and immediately disposed of it. Rude. And hilarious. Anyways. The nails. I used two sources to help me. THIS youtub

31DC2016 - Day 27 - Inspired By Artwork

Hey everyone! Ok, I kind of really like these. Yes, my colour choices might not be spot on, but.. PLEASED! HERE is the link for the artwork, but I will toss the photo in here as well.  I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Formula X White Matter OPI Casino Royale Orly Glitz Essence Gold Foil Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat This was a lot of acetone/dragging work.. but I was pretty obsessed with these. And I was pumped that I still had large chunks of gold foil kicking around. That is all for today! See you again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 26 - Inspired By A Pattern

Hey everyone! Slithering in under the wire here.. phew! Kind of lost track of the day.. no real excuse.. just derp. So, I went with a really neat abstract-y pattern.. that I inadvertently made look like really horrible spider web nails. Damnit! HERE is my inspiration.  Well, despite the fact that it looks like crap cobwebs.. I like the colours. Win! I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI Gelato On My Mind Essie Madison Ave-hue Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today! See you tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 25 - Inspired By Fashion

31DC2016 - Day 24 - Inspired By A Book

Hey everyone! A couple weeks back, I bought the book 'In A Dark Dark Wood'.. I decided to start it some time after 9pm.. and stay up until just after 1am to finish it.. and I had to be up at 5am-ish to get ready for work. Genius, I am not. This book was fairly captivating to me (obviously) - was it a literary masterpiece? No. Was it completely predictable? Yes. But, I had this need to finish it. There was no stopping. And that makes it a good book. And worthy of having the cover art inspire some nail art. At first I hated these. My lines weren't crisp and clean like the cover art. Then I reminded myself that this was an inspiration thing - not an exact replica. That, and it is the thought that counts.. right?!  I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI Black Onyx Formula X White Matter Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you all again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 23 - Inspired By A Movie

Hey everyone! I was watching the film '21 Jump Street' a month/or 2 ago, and it made me think of Kayla's nails for this very prompt back in the day.. and I figured if I was going to do this challenge, I was definitely going to recreate those nails. And I did. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Formula X White Matter China Glaze Treble Maker China Glaze Sunday Funday OPI Color So Hot It Berns OPI Black Onyx Seche Viche Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you all again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 22 - Inspired By A Song

Hey everyone! So today is the prompt for 'Inspired By A Song'.. and.. I went with Raffi's Banana Phone.. mostly because I just love painting bananas on my nails.. and this song was my old ringtone back in the day on my sweet fuchsia razr phone.. those were the days! Anyways.. HERE is the song for ya!  I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat China Glaze Lemon Fizz China Glaze Let's Jam China Glaze Bottoms Up China Glaze DJ Blue My Mind China Glaze Treble Maker China Glaze Sun of a Peach OPI Black Onyx Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 21 - Inspired By A Colour

Hey everyone! Today I am starting in to the 'inspired by' portion of the challenge.. and sometimes it makes me nervous.. actually, that isn't true.. just a few coming up in about a week make me nervous. Anyways. I knew I wanted to use OPI Coca Cola Red.. and I found this "coke float" polish - so I mimicked it. THIS was my inspiration.  Mine are a little more intensely red.. and kind of Halloween-y, but I like it! I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI Coca Cola Red OPI Pirouette My Whistle OPI Germanicure By OPI Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you all tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 20 - Water Marble

Hey everyone! Water Marble day.. the bane of my nail art existence. I just.. cannot comprehend how to master this. I mean, mind you, I only do this once a year (if that) so without practice, how can I get any better? But I digress. Not horrible.. right? I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI My Pal Joey OPI Gelato On My Mind Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today, see you again tomorrow.. as we move in to the 'inspired by' category.

31DC2016 - Day 19 - Galaxies

Hey everyone! Ahhh.. my favourite kind of nails. Now, I went with something a bit different.. and I feel like I got a 'smokey' galaxy effect.. and I really like it. Lately, I have been using a glittery/shimmery base black, and I just went with solid black this time. Solid colours, then some China Glaze Fairy Dust where I wanted it. Love. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Orly Liquid Vinyl Formula X White Matter China Glaze Fairy Dust China Glaze DJ Blue My Mind China Glaze Plur-ple Dotting Tool Sponge Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today - see you all again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 18 - Half Moons

Hey everyone! Half moon nails.. not something I would just choose to wear. Not saying there is anything wrong with it - it is just not my thing . BUT hey.. for a day, it can be done! I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI Black Onyx Essence Glitter Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat I know these are pretty exaggerated half moon nails.. but hey.. subtlety isn't really what I am about. That is all for today! See you all again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 17 - Glitter

Hey everyone! I couldn't choose one glitter polish to use for this day, so I went for a handful of them. And no crazy/cool design or anything.. just wanted to showcase the glitter polish. I did the whole 'sponge on the glitter' technique to get them all (mostly) opaque. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Ninja Polish Humblebee Orly Turn It Up Lacquistry Lake Placid On Acid Tough As Nails Lacquer The Baconian Method  Pirate Polish Multipass Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat And one would thing that removal was a pain.. but I have those little doo-dads that hold the cotton ball in place.. so.. it was suuuper easy! That is all for today. See you all tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 16 - Geometric

Hey everyone! So.. slight cheat on my part. I had some nails that I did.. oh.. a month-month-and-a-half ago.. snapped photos, but never blogged it. AND! They were perfect for this prompt. So. Went with it. Don't hate me! Ok, you can hate me slightly. I didn't write down what I used. I know. I'm sorry! I know the white is Formula X White Matter, the black is Orly Liquid Vinyl, and the grey is China Glaze Recycle.. but.. the blue and the pink.. no idea. That is all for today! See you all again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 15 - Delicate

Hey everyone! Siiiigh.. I cannot say I am a huge fan of these nails.. but hey.. had to be done! Looking back, I could have done something more cutesy, or floral-ly.. or.. something.. but oh well! In my mind this would end up looking very 'dreamy', but that wasn't the overall effect. But, it is something! I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat OPI Don't Touch My Tutu! OPI Snow Globetrotter Formula X White Matter Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today! See you all again tomorrow!!

31DC2016 - Day 14 - Flowers

Hey everyone! Today is the prompt for 'Flowers', and I did a smidge of nail recycling.. so.. I used my gradient nails from the other day.. and tossed some daisies on them.. I got the idea from NailsByCambria - and you can see the photo that I was inspired by HERE . 31DC2016 - Day 13 - Animal Print

Hey everyone! So, for this prompt, I of course thought of cheetah/leopard.. or zebra.. or even tiger.. but I went with something a bit more cheeky. I found THIS pattern on pinterest, and went with it. Because.. I am pretty sure the rabbit is my spirit animal. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Formula X White Matter Butter London Fruit Machine Orly Liquid Vinyl Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today! See you tomorrow!

Hey everyone! I love me some polka dot nails.. and I really wanted to use my recently acquired bottle of Orly Gumdrop - why not combine them? I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Orly Gumdrop Orly Liquid Vinyl Orly Mirrorball Formula X White Matter Dotting Tool Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat  That is all for today -- see you again tomorrow!

31DC2016 - Day 10 - Gradient

Hey everyone.. Ok, so yesterday, I did some sponge activity with my rainbow nails.. and I like to think I am pretty deft with a sponge/gradients. This. Was. Impossible. I wanted to do a circular gradient.. I honestly tried it.. oh.. 3 times? Nada. Then I went with a different combo of colours.. wasn't having it. It was getting extremely upsetting. Finally I decided on a simple 2-polish gradient.. and it is the base for some nail art in a couple days.. Ugh. Oh, and only a 4-finger photo.. I screwed up the thumb so badly. It was not my day to gradient. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Formula X White Matter China Glaze Whip It Good Zoya Dory Sponge Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat Do you ever have those days when trying to do your nails? You can see the end product in your mind, but you are never getting there. Tomorrow shall be better.. right? See you!!

31DC2016 - Day 9 - Rainbow

Hey everyone! Ahh.. rainbow nails.. is there anything better than that? I don't think so. You can just throw together a small army of polish and make it work. Honestly, the best! I got my inspiration HERE - rad rainbow nails by Funkifiednails . I am pretty obsessed with these nails. Got muchos compliments on them as well. I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat China Glaze Whip It Good China Glaze Bottoms Up China Glaze Plur-ple Essie Orange, It's Obvious Girly Bits It's Hoop To Be Square Zoya Dory Orly Liquid Vinyl Sponge Dotting Tool Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today! 31DC2016 - Day 7 - Black & White

Hey everyone! I figured for this black and white prompt, I would tackle the ever popular moon nails. In retrospect, I would probably want to use acrylic paints (though I hate doing it) only to be able to do more blending.. I was blending with acetone.. and it worked ok.. but acrylics would have been easier. Ah well - first attempt! I used: China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat Orly Liquid Vinyl Formula X White Matter Acetone Little Brush Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat That is all for today. See you again tomorrow!
