That Bloody Thing

Yay October! Like many of you out there, October is my favourite time of year. My favourite season (fall), my favourite month and my favourite 'holiday'.. Actually, technically I have to be careful when saying that as I am Canadian and we do have a legit holiday this month.. Which is Thanksgiving! Woo! But I am talking about that pseudo holiday, Halloween.

I decided month and months ago that I would dedicate the month of October to strictly Halloween-esque nails. And I am staying true to my word.

The problem? The other day on Polish or Perish, one of the members posted THIS and I fell in love! I can no longer drink soda.. Which isn't so bad, but someday I want a glass so bad.. No idea why. Sort of weird. My favourite soda was/is Dr. Pepper, so when this Dr. Pepper mani was posted up I knew I had to do it. In my mind it would stomp that craving for some smooth DP.

So. I did it. LOVED it. Then, 3 hours later, I was bored. And I realized we're in October. Duh Dee, you promised yourself Halloween nails ALL MONTH LONG.

Easy fix? Bloody nails.

Sorry, you're getting pre-clean up shots. I was just about to go to bed.. But realized that I was working the next day and these bad boys would probably be destroyed.. They actually survived, but there is some dents that I don't appreciate, so you have to make do with this - I'm sorry!

Notice anything? Yeah! My trap door nail is GONE!!! It is really, really short.. And it hurts a bit when you touch it (with added pressure) but it is paintable! Soooo happy! Now random people don't have to ask why one of my nails is never painted. Rejoice!

I used two coats of Quirius Ruby Pumps over two coats of CG Liquid Leather followed by two thick coats of dripping blood courtesy of Essie Lollipop.

Whelp, that is all for now! I am not sure if I'll be back with a post again this week or not. We'll see how well these gems wear through the week. Plus I am STILL waiting for some polishes to arrive. This is the longest they have ever taken to get into my mitts. I am not impressed! Ahh well.

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

OH! AND! Side note: Are there any Halloween-esque nails 'y'all' want me to take a... stab at? Let me know via comment, twitter or e-mail and I will be happy to try!

  • Zara - Thankies! I just couldn't decide.. And since they are both sparkly and wonderful, I figured they would compliment each other. And luckily the effect is nice!!
  • shortwidenails - Ooh silver! I didn't even think of that! That would be a nice way to top it all off as well. And I know exactly how you feel on the ideas:nails ratio!
  • maRyya - Glad you enjoyed your visit. I will going to scope out your blog right after I hit 'publish post'.

Neutral Dots

Hey everyone!

Long time, no blog. I have just been soso bad about getting photos of my nails.. going to try to end the year on a high note. Fingers crossed!

I apologize for how drrrry my hands/cuticles look in these photos. You know how you know that your hands are dry, but you don't think they are that bad, and maybe they aren't, but a photo makes it look 50x worse? That.

I was able to snap up this set of 4 Butter London gem polishes awhile back.. very neutral, but it had a particular shade I had been eyeing.. but that is not what I have used here, naturally.

I used:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
Butter London Ta-ta!
Sally Hansen White On!
Dotting Tool
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

That is all for today. I have mostly been wearing a wealth of polka dotted nail art.. there is something I want to re-visit from a couple of years back - will probably do that this weekend, and then keep going from there. Halloween is on the horizon.. so.. that will be a thing too. Take care…

Black Marble (sort of).

Hey everyone!

-Insert gratuitous reasoning(s) of why I have been away-

Ok, now that that is out of the way, hi!

I just realized I still have a couple post photos stocked up. Sigh. I haven't even uploaded all that is currently living on my camera. The fear is real.

That is for another day. Mayhaps this weekend.

Until then.

I think I said it at some point on my blog, but I feel like 2017 is going to be the year that I constantly do faux marble nails. Note: not watermarbling. I have given in to that failed activity far too many times.

No, I mean the classy kind of marble. You know.

This time, I did it in reverse, because, why not?

 It counts, right?

Ugh. I love it.

All right, that is all for today. See you all again soon (I promise).

Grungey Leopard Nails

Hey everyone!

Today I have some grungey leopard print nails for you.. I had a different direction I had wanted to go in last night, but then ended up with this. Not disappointed.

I used:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base CoatButter London High TeaOrly Liquid VinylSally Hansen Terra-CoppaAcetoneBrushDotting ToolSeche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
I did two coats of the base colour (High Tea), then I was adding "splatter" prints with black (Liquid Vinyl) but felt they were too perfect.. so.. I decided to douse them with some acetone.. then.. I just decided to "smoke" them out.. which made the nails look grungey. But. This is me. I couldn't stop there. I decided to make dots (Terra-Coppa) throughout the smokey black, then make it into leopard print. Love.

That is all for today - see you all again soon!
